Oh, wait... are you saying this was a tournament? If so, they may well be right depending on your goals for the tournament.
I am guessing that you were not in a tournament since you mentioned dollar amounts. But if you were in a tournament, you might actually want to go all in, if your goal is first place.
Otherwise, maybe the other people's tournament play is hurting their other decisions.
You likely made the right play.

This was just standard casino playing. Like you said, I think their tournament play clouded their decision. Though I'm not really sure where they'd get that if they live here. I've never seen a VP tourney.
Even in a tourney, if credits was the bottom line - very few hands beat 1600 credits and I'd never risk it for the chance of getting 800 credits on the downside vs 2000 on the upside. Lot more hands give 800 credits with kickers on SDDB. Like you said, type of tourney could make a diff but really not a tourney player - make too many mistakes when I rush!
