Re: Love & Hate(dont like)
The key to your question is the players card reading device (not the VP machine) saves away your number at the time of the dealt hand (VP machine sends it a signal). When the final result is sent to it by the VP machine it uses the players card that was saved away.

I'm becoming obsessed with all this tech stuff....I need to go cook lunch. At any rate WHY would anyone wont to take the players card out. I see people doing that all the time and just thought it was some superstition...What's wrong (or right) with recording a win??? Is there some tax or comp consideration? And I thought Bridge was a confusing game....

Occasionally, casinos have been known to ask winning players to stay away (or cut their benefits). This technique was used for years to hide winnings. In general, winning players would just as soon be invisible. That way they don't have to worry about these problems.
Now, most of the players you see pulling their cards are doing it for other reasons. In fact, they pull out their cards and play without them. Of course, this reduces potential benefits and CB they might have earned. Not a good idea, but many people are somewhat paranoid when it comes to gambling.

HEY, Did anyone else notice that Shadowman had crossed that 2000 post mark? I did not see any lights or hear any bells and whistles. For what it's worth, congratulations! I had also been curious about players card usage and re pulling the card if big hit in progress. Thanks for addressing this issue. Anyone need any of our excess SNOW?

Well, I don't think I've ever won enough to be asked not to play. Don't I
wish!!!!! I think I'll just keep doing what I usually do. Kick back, relax,
and play until my stomach is crying for food, my back is begging for movement or
the restroom is loudly beckoning....Three more days and a wake up until
VEGAS....Yippee....

faygo, YOU are such a kidder! Have you heard that the Eskimos have 300 words to describe the conditions of snow. Right now, a four letter word will suffice and it's neither COOL or COLD!
SM Tks for the thought. I can only hope that WM never lists the top five forum members who enter the contests the most times!
kjohn, Luck in Vegas and prepare a glowing report for us when you return!
Topic change alert: The Imperial Circus of China gave a brilliant performance yesterday at the 5000 seat auditorium in Caesar's Windsor Casino. Talent, costumes, choreography and music were all fantastic with their amazing gymnastic, juggling and acrobatic routines. My husband wondered briefly why there were so many Chinese playing BJ and in the casino. Then he realized the drawing card was the two performances of the Chinese circus with 10,000 seats available.
A snow storm descended and we were fortunate to get a comped room after we arrived. We noticed three apparent economy measures. There used to be two free water bottles in the rooms. There are now two VOSS water bottles for $8 each. There used to be a small stack of the daily newspaper on the small tables in the elevator hallways. There used to be a $1000 drawing after each concert. One swiped their players card at a table on the way to the concert to enter. Patrons were known to play for a few hours after each concert to see if they were the lucky winner. That drawing has been discontinued.
We missed seeing freighters pass by from our river view window. They are in hibernation due to the ice floes in the Detroit river.
One man said the casino was still packed at 5:00 AM when he left on NYDay and 35,000 had been there!
Lastly, the annual North American International Auto Show is this week at Cobo Hall on the Detroit River front, 9AM -10 PM through next Sun. This sensational show is attended by people from all over the world!
