Oh, I see now. In an effort to improve my own VP play returns, asking for some insight from a couple of people who profess to be successful at VP is apparently viewed with fear and sarcasm. Sorry to have bothered you....

Sorry, billyjoe, I didn't mean to give the impression that I was holding out on any secret info. I'm not. On a small amount of 50-cent play this year I was fortunate enough to hit a RF (luck). On an even smaller amount of $1 play I've had two sessions with nice runs of quads (more luck). High denomination play for me is anything over $.25, and I rarely play anything over $.25 unless I'm ahead for the session and about ready to go home, then I might take part of those winnings and give a higher denom a try. If I hit an early quad at a higher denom I'll consider myself a lucky duck and go home. If I've lost on my $.25 play then I don't play any higher denoms at all. One thing I will take credit for is shopping around different casinos in the area for the best CB/BB. For anyone who's going to play anyway, that's free money. Practicing hands with my VP tutor program also helps.
Colorado has a cap of 100% on game returns. Since there are no types of VP with exactly 100% return, that means all games in casinos here are negative return. If we had games with returns >100% with near-perfect play then that's the strategy I'd follow.

This first quarter we haven't hit a RF( 25¢ or higher) or gotten a G-statement.
Same thing happened in 2006 and 2007 for the first quarter. Both years ended up being decent including Ms. LL hitting 6 RF in a two week period in 2007. Last year combined we averaged 1+ RF/month and almost 1 G's/month - 25¢ or greater
I haven't seen a G since getting two on the same night on MH 5¢ way back in September. And, we have only had one RF each since October. My Progress RF on our November cruise and a RF in December for Ms. LL.
With the economy, we are playing much lower denominations and our favorite casino lowered the pay tables. So smaller G accounts means playing lower denominations. Now we are mostly playing multi-hand 5¢ (which have been lowered from 99% to 97-98% in December). I did have a good night two weeks ago with hits on 25¢ SDDB hitting multiple quads and AWAKS and then Aces on $1. In addition several $1K+ tickets on MH 5¢ the first quarter have kept us in the game. Sometimes it takes a couple of hours to work up to those tickets, but they are really nice since we don't get a G statement. Hey, a RF is $200 so we'll take those. Hope a better second quarter comes for everyone.

I realize OEJs not a normal game but it is real. You can even find it in Las Vegas if you search hard enough. So, no sarcasm whatsoever. Here's some info on it.

It's the only game in my area that returns close to 100%. It probably has the hardest strategy to perfect, but it's not too hard to get with a couple of tenths of a percent.

It probably has the hardest strategy to perfect, but it's not too hard to get with a couple of tenths of a percent.Billyjoe, Wolf Video Poker has a basic strategy with no penalty cards that purports to produce a bit over 100.24% of the perfect-play 100.28% game that shadowman referenced. But as he said, even the basic strategy is difficult with the best plays dependent on the number of wild cards and often involving 2-card straight flushes or single card holds where you have to pay attention to whether the suits of your held cards are Hearts/Spades (the suits of the wild one-eyed jacks) or Diamonds/Clubs (the suits of the non-wild two-eyed jacks) and also whether the range of straights and straight flushes that are possible to hit includes or excludes a jack.Using some parlance from previous threads, it's a head-exploding strategy! You can also find a semblance of a strategy at http://www.vpgenius.com/video-poker/one ... .aspx#Good luck

Well, thanks for setting me straight everyone. Coming from a non-casino state (Florida), I had never seen a VP game with one-eyed jacks in my travels to casinos around the US. I apologize for my remarks earlier, and I appreciate the insight.

Chitown, last year I had two runs of 5 straight session losses, another couple at 4 and an ugly one of 8 straight. This year my longest bad streak is 3 losses but I just ended a 7 session win streak (let's hope that isn't the start of a bad streak) which matched my best of last year.
