Re: Machine Surfing?

The closest Casino to Palm Beach is probably Coconut Creek.  I've never been there but I've heard it's small.  I like the Hollywood Hard Rock near Ft. Lauderdale the best.  You need to check the pay tables closely because they vary from machine to machine.  You can find some 9/6 $1 Jacks machines if you look.  Lower denominations are usually 8/5 JB & 8/5 DDB.  They also have a lot of 7/5 machines, which I try to avoid. I went to Tampa yesterday and machine surfed for about 3 hours.  I played DDB .50 for $20 each time and moved around the casino. About my forth machine in, I hit four 4s for $200.  The machine went cold so I switched to Deuces and hit four deuces .25 for $250.  I started machine surfing again and hit a low pay quad along the way.  I was almost ready to leave when I hit four aces for $400.  I got home up about $400 for the afternoon. I had the worst first quarter I have ever had earlier this year.  My mind set was to "keep from losing" and I would sit at the same machine and play low volatility .25 games until they got it all.  I switched to machine surfing about 6 weeks ago and started winning again.  Life is good when it works....

Thanks for the info. Coconut Creek is kinda-sorta on my route to Hollywood. I have free play waiting at both places, so I might as well give the creek a shot. I'll check the tables close, and surf as I always do. I've had a good year so far. Up about 2500. I rarely play $, mostly .25/.50
I play alot of regular bonus poker. I stay in the game a long time on $20, .25, and move to .50 and some times $ if I'm hitting. I like to finish (if I'm up substantially) on STP, .25 bonus. Toss in $200 and play it out. Best hit on STP  so far, was delt  str. fl. 9 to k clubs. Took a deep breath, dumped the 9 and sure enough pulled out a royal and 2 more str, fls. The 10 hands made me do it! I never get a multiplier when it counts. Oh well, I'll keep hoping for a really big one. Thanks for the tips, hope your good play holds.

As expected, my luck changed and I had a bad day at the Tampa Hard Rock.  Machine surfed DDB for about 2 hours.  Switched to DW and hit 4 aces right away.   It was the only four of a kind I saw all day.   I'm going to Biloxi on Sunday.  Plan to play JB & DW most of the time and surf DDB about once an hour.  The pay tables in Biloxi stink, but the airfare, food and hotel are free.  The Beau Rivage is a great hotel and I always have fun there even if I don't come home a winner all the time.

Phil,
Hope you have good luck at BR. Daughter/SIL just got back from BR on the same type offer (Sat-Tue). She said she couldn't hit a pair on VP but the slots kept them going. No real big hits but they came back with $$$$ and had a great time.

Try The Grand, they have a progressive that is descent with different games.  The isle has the best selection and the IP is suppose to have the best pay tables.  The Beau and Hard Rock are horrible.  I think I even saw 6/5 at the bar  and you couldnt find a seat .  If you do get stuck at the BR go all the way to back corner to the left.  I think its at least 9/5 compared to the front were its 8/5.

A few months ago I was at the Beau and found a small group of machines with 9/6 $1 Jacks.  They were right in front of the big cashier's cage on the back right as you walk in.  Most of the DDB odds are 7/5 & the deuces are about 95%.  The best odds are at the bar.  I hit two $1 Royals in one day at the Beau about 2 years ago and 2 more at the Capri the same weekend. Love the hotel, but you have to watch the pay tables closely.
