Re: Deuces Wild question
@marie meijerIf you would really like to go against the math and what the trainer says to do, I suggest you read Specimen theoriae novae de mensura sortis (Exposition of a New Theory on the Measurement of Risk) published by Daniel Bernoulli in 1738. Going against the grain of what his uncle Jakob Bernoulli had put down in the more famous Ars Conjectandi (The Art of Conjecture) published in 1713, he introduced the concepts of subjective and personal utility...in contradiction of classical probability. With the proper application of scholarly study and a little legerdemain you should be able to come up with an actual formula that supports anything you want to do. Of course it will only apply to you, if you understand the premise of Daniel's work.If you want to make the most money(positive machines) or lose the least(negative machines), listen to the trainer and follow the math.If that isn't your goal, all the justification you need is only a trip to the library away. Please note that to make these equations work for you it will require taking a long hard look at your real motivations in a casino, and you may not like what you find. But once you are honest with yourself, you should be able to draw the way you want to; and prove it is correct, for you, using mathematical formula.~FK

Your input is appreciated, faygo, new and Frank. Guru Jean Scott once replied to question about playing hunches. Her response was similar to all those computer read outs should be taken seriously. Play by the book!

Play by the book! What you are fighting is human nature. Everybody loves and remembers those big jackpots and forgets the small stuff. But in gambling your net result is a combination of both size and frequency. How much and how often. Never are these two inexorably intertwined concepts separated except in our own minds.Which would you rather have a job that paid $2,500 a month, or one that paid $100 a day? The big paycheck is certainly more memorable, but I for one would rather get $3,000 a month in unmemorable smaller increments. This is the same choice you have to make in video poker everyday, it is only more difficult to see and obfuscated by the addition of the random element, which in the fullness of time means very little.~FK

Traveling to our Cottage in Northern Miching years back, a regular stop just off I75 for smoked fish and great cheese had hunters saugage at the register which they sold for .25 apiece or 3 for a $1. The clerk said 7 out of 10 opted for the 3 for a $1 "bargain".
You just have to love us humans.

You think the people writing these signs are the same ones supporting our Vegas economy?Recent research is pointing to genetics playing the largest part in whether or not people are good at math. Of course America is a mixing pot of all races, which doesn't explain why we are 34th as of 2009 in math.http://rankingamerica.wordpress.com/200 ... -progress/
