And HIDENOM...lol What a weird sounding name.
I was stuck on that one too. Hidenom? What is the nom they are trying to hide, and why?! Nom nom nom.
Then I figured out it probably means High Denomination. It makes sense they would have pay tables that make certain wins under that w2g limit, for obvious reasons.

At one time back in 90s there were some youths that figered away to found out what the video poker chip was doing and they won alot money before the casino caught on to it. So the question stands can they!LOL! My guess is that if they could very few people would know they could do it.
Not sure exactly which one you are referring to, but there's one that I love. It was probably 80's or 90's Keno. Guess the casino got tired of drawing balls out of a spinning bin so they got a computer with a RNG on it. As often times is done, the RNG got its seed from the real time clock on the computer. Problem with RNG's is if you give it the same seed each time it produces the same random numbers every time. This computer did not have a battery backup on it's clock so when they shut it off at night, every morning it would start up the same as the day before and give the same seed to the RNG. Basically the games were the same every day, totally predictable. Eventually sombody caught on and made a killing. i don't think that person was ever charged because they did nothing wrong. They didn't manipulate the game, they just used the information they were given by the casino. I think many not things like that exist in today's world. We are way too far into the microprocessor generation to keep making those mistakes. Not saying it can't happen, but there are many more checks today than there were back then. Of course, didn't we have a space craft crash into a planet because somebody used metric instead of standard? So, I basically think that anything is possible with these chips, they are tested and there are safeguards (physical tape on chips on boards, supervision when maintaining and chaning, audits etc). I also think there are electronic checksums that give a quick indication whether the chip is authentic. I'm not saying it can't be done, anything can be done, but It just doesn't seem feasable for a casino to cheat at this level based on what is at risk. Now, I'd like to know if there's any chance that NJ rules are sufficiently different that would give them an edge over the rules in LV. That I'd like to know. I guess to boil it down to a sinle quesiton: Is there anything in any CCC or Jurisdiction that would allow the manufacturer of a VP machine to create software for a machine that would allow it to deviate in any way from the statictical outcomes of a pure RNG and the application of stated pay tables, including but not limited to, manipulation of deal draw, manipulation, of produced result, manipulation of the pure function of the RNG, manipulation of the seed process that would allow the RNG to produce something outside of the normal production of random numbers. I've been reading a little bit about the affects of memory clears on VP machines. it seems some folks think that doing a memory clear on a machine seems to produce better results. I'm currently investigating this a bit further. Roveer

They did what your are doing roveer, they bought a video poker machine all or most of them college educated, to my knowledge, it did not have to do when machine were shut of then restarted and seed started at same point, they figured out away to determined the cards that were going to come up just by the cards that were on the screen, they also had small computer/devise in pocket that help them. This the reason why the makers of the video poker chip now have secound shuffle after your first five cards are dealt they continue shuffle 47 cards before you hit deal button, old way you had 5 cards and 5 card in reserve depending on how many cards you were going to replace. These guys figured with higher percentage what those 5 other cards were.

Thank you. I was stuck with "nom nom nom" in my head as well...lol

Here's the story Sam mentioned.

As you can all imagine, I find that wildly entertaining. Unfortunately I lack almost all of the skills required. But it is one heck of a good read. Just shows what can be done when you really put your mind to it. I would imagine that it would become a curse just like they said. All of those types of activities eventually become intollerable even to those doing them.
