Re: Pet Peeve: Single Credit Players
Yes, a spin can be mandatory following the hand pay. However, some peeps play lower denom. Then the machine pays off their hit. Thus, they can exit leaving their hit showing for others to admire.

Our other peeve is finding seats away from smokers at a bank with open seats and then have a smoker sitting next to us after we have been playing for awhile and begin puffing away like crazy and holding their cigarette out towards us.
We were on a casino trip and I developed the cold of the century. I was too sick to leave an almost deserted casino. A cigarette sat down next to me. I knew the coughing would begin and I would not leave the casino alive! I blurted out "I am really sick and you do not want it!" She left immediately. Maybe this will work again!.

For the life of me, as a healthcare professional, I cannot understand why someone would allow a hobby such as VP to have a higher priority than their life and/or health. Secondhand smoke has been proven beyond doubt to be just as dangerous to your health as actually smoking a cigarette. I go out of my way to patronize casinos that are either non-smoking or that have non-smoking areas. For a non-smoking area to be truly effective in an otherwise smoking casino, it must be isolated with a separate hvac system. I am not going to get on my high horse and start lecturing, other than to tell you that totally avoiding first-or-second-hand cigarette smoke is perhaps the single most effective action you can take to protect your health. If only more non-smokers would assert themselves with casino ownership then perhaps casinos would become safer places for their players. It's ironic that only a small percentage of the general population still smokes, but a heavy percentage of casino players seem to smoke.

Windsor Caesar's Casino is non smoking to comply with Ontario law. Michigan has no smoking in public areas but casinos are exempt. Go figure. Do I hear "casino lobby"? Some non smoking areas, in casinos that I have checked out, have machines with lower pay tables. How fair is that?

A few years ago when Illinois went smoke free there was a major push by the casino lobbyists to get casinos exempted and allow smoking to still be allowed in the casinos. The arguement was that the state would lose gambling revenue, yada yada yada. The no smoking ban was never changed and the casinos remain smoke free but you can really tell when a person has just fed their habit because they sit down smelling of smoke. For the life of me I could never figure out why a person would take up smoking and I am knocking it even though I will never try it.

Tks for your input, rascal and Ted. My husband had to quit smoking for the last time when his childhood asthma returned. Life is good, but it's a daily struggle to avoid pollutants that are everywhere, that might set off a three week attack. The rest of the time, he can do pretty much anything he wishes. He would be a good poster guy to encourage high school kids to never start smoking or stop smoking, yesterday! (or anyone else that could be helped by his experience!)

Secondhand smoke has been proven beyond doubt to be just as dangerous to your health as actually smoking a cigarette. I call BS on this one. Sure it's what the anti-smoking crowd want people to believe, but it's obviously not true. I would say it would be true if you got just as much secondhand smoke as you did by actually smoking, but if that's the case you're doing it wrong. "Proven beyond doubt." Sounds a lot like the climate goobers and "the science is settled." Yeah, with agenda-driven data.As an ex-smoker (like 20 years ex), I think it takes a special kind of a-hole to complain about smoke in a casino.

I too over the years have asked smokers to reposition their cigarette/cigar. I have nothing against smokers and if they want to ruin their health by smoking then so be it but what I don't like is when smokers forget that non-smokers have rights too.
As for finding a happy medium in a casino between non-smokers and smokers this would call for compromise. If a smoker is sitting next to me and doesn't want to compromise then I just start passing gas.
