Re: Shooting for Full House
My quick and dirty calculation is that holding a dealt 3K results in a FH 66 times in 1081, while holding a kicker to the 3K results in a FH 3 times in 47, or 69 times in 1081. So, yes, holding a kicker increases your probability of getting another FH bonus, but only 3 additional times in 1081 trials, so it doesn't seem that it would make a lot of practical difference.
Drawing to 2P results in a FH 4 times in 47, or 92 times in 1081; so I'd say that if you'd made your 2000 score for the random drawing, didn't have a realistic shot at the top 10, were close to a top bonus score and got a DreamCard 3K, change it for 2P and go for the extra FH.
Good Mathematics

1) If you are going to play for the Bonus, it's best to play 9/6 JOB. You are virtually guaranteed to get a random entry at a measly 2K points, and the game is more "boat friendly."
2) You can also change dealt quads to a full house as well if you get the Dream Card. Sounds counterintuitive, but since it is so easy to get 2K points on a 99.54% return game, you should do it. I got up to 18 FH's, and changed two of my "dealt" quads (with the help of a DC) this way.
3) Yes, you do change every 3K to a 2P.
IMHO, you cannot play to get a high score AND get a bonus. Tournament scenarios are totally different than real play, and it requires "out of the box" thinking to win them.

So you are betting on ONLY a five (four in the deck) making your QQ, to the exclusion of a 7-Ace, 6-2 or 4-4.
Is that really the correct play?
Yes, it really is the best play. You also make a quad with the fourth eight, giving you a 5 in 47 chance at success.

However playing deuces you are given the Dream Card almost every other time. So, I choose to play deuces when trying for the full house bonus. You always have to change the dream card but it result in more full houses. That plus some luck and you may possibly get on the leader bonus board. Good Luck all!!!!!

[QUOTE=Vman96] If you had something like 8883K in QQ, you may autopilot 888, a big mistake vs. 8883 as any five will make a quad.
So you are betting on ONLY a five (four in the deck) making your QQ, to the exclusion of a 7-Ace, 6-2 or 4-4.

Well out of 1081 two card draws, there would be 46 ways to naturally make 4 8's, there are 16 ways each to make 7A and 62, 12 ways to make 53 after you would discard the 3, and 6 ways to make 44.
So all together this adds up to:
(46+16+16+12+6)/1081 = 0.0888
vs. 4 5's and one 8
5/47 = 0.10638
There are a couple exceptions though: 888 is better than 8884 and TTT is better than TTT5 since you can't make a full house when holding the kicker.

Is there anything you can do to improve your chances of getting a full house besides the things I said before? I think we got off of the track here because this contest is not a QQ contest.
We all know that you change 3K's to 2P's by altering the DC, as well as making 4K's into FH's as well.
But what about a hand like this: 3 3 A 6 9
I do not have my calculating software on this computer, but is it easier to GET (not interest in EV) a FH by doing something like 33 A instead of holding the pair by itself?
If someone wants to chime in or send me a PM, I would appreciate it.

Sorry for the derail.
Combos by holding 33 only:
Full Houses made with 3 and a pair:
2*(9*6+3*3) = 126
Full Houses made with drawing trips:
4*9 + 3 = 39
Combinations that make a full house: 165
Total combinations: 47*46*45/3/2/1 = 16,215
Probability: 165/16,215 = 0.010175763
Combos by holding 33A:
3's full: 2*3 = 6
Aces full: 3
Full house combinations: 9
Total combinations: 47*46/2/1 = 1081
Probability: 9/1081 = 0.00832
Hold just the pair.

Heartbreaker of a hand on today's contest session: dealt quad 10s plus a dreamcard. I can't change it to make three FH for the bonus! Still wound up with a personal best 17 FH for the session plus a random drawing entry. Oh well...

There used to be a game about 15 years ago called "Goldmine Bonus Poker."
It was on the old Bally Multigames. The paytable was not that great, but when you got a FH, you would choose from a series of gold nuggets that displayed on the screen. I think you could win up to 1,000 coins for a FH, but the average FH was like 19-for-1 in a DB format. I remember someone said the return was around 99%. Never played it because there were games that were so much better then.
