Must have been quite a while. I have been gaming all over the country for more than 15 years and all I have ever received is W2G's. The federal form 1099G is specifically reserved for reporting non-salary funds received from the federal government. It is not to be confused with the form used for any type of taxable gaming win, which is W2G.

I do my own taxes and I have averaged 61 W2G's per year since 1991, so I know of what I speak, respectfully.

Taking care of the taxes on your winnings and deducting all losses is another good subject for a thread on this board. Frankly, I see waaay too many casual players fail to deduct losses against wins. Video Poker is already a borderline/marginal game...why make it worse by failing to deduct losses against wins????

You can get 1099-Misc for gambling related winnings. Drawings over $600 seem to generate this kind of tax form.

Also, "bad beat" bonuses in poker rooms and other bonus promotions tend to get 1099-Misc'd.

I've never been dealt a royal -- been dealt four to it more times than I care to remember (including with a STP multiplier -- didn't convert it).  The closest I've come is the lady on the machine behind mine getting dealt one.  :)  I also read just recently on another forum about a friend of a frequent poster there getting dealt two on the SAME DAY.  I'll be lucky if I get ONE in my lifetime.

I have never had one dealt to me but have had a total of four in about twenty years of VP playing. I was on a cruise ship last year and woman sitting next to me was playing vp and really didn't know how to play. Was playing one quarter at a time and, yep, you guessed it, she was dealt one and asked me what to hold. Can you just fall down and scream.

I just returned from Fla and my husband was dealt four deuces 2x in 3 hours on two different machines at the Isle racino there. We actually walked away winners for a change after a few hours of play. A BP machine dealt me 4 four of a kinds in 45 minutes. Took my money and left.

I have never been dealt a royal.  I remember the lady sitting by me who had one dealt and she asked what was wrong with her video machine as it had froze--it was a progressive and she had just hit it.  I told her to play on mine (hehehe)  She figured it out fairly fast and hit me LOL! With a smile I might add.

I got one dealt about a month ago on a .25 progressive DDB machine for $2573 at The Eureka in Mesquite. Also had a promo coupon for an extra $200 for a hand pay over $1000, so it was pretty sweet.  Last week a lady sat down and on her very first hand, held 2 and filled in the RF for $1400+. I've never seen anyone hit a royal on their first hand. I've had 3 progressive royals, but never on a progressive machine.
