We also used to drive down to St. Louis 2 or 3 times/year -- loved that casino -- but haven't been back since Harrah's sold it to Hollywood. Hope to hit Biloxi this winter.

Good luck all in contests!!

The casino has changed a lot since the takeover, but the units with the good paytables have remained untouched. That's a minor miracle with Penn gaming.

We are going to be in Kansas City the first week of February. We have never played there before but hear the casino is real friendly and has a nice diamond lounge and gm lounge. WE would love for you to join us if you can work it into your schedule. We are meeting up with about 50 to 75 other people, mostly slot players, some vp players.

50 to 75 players? Gonna be one hell of a fight for the one and only "full pay" unit in the entire casino (assuming it's still there). Lol

What type of machine and where is it located? Will look for it and see if it is still there. Only 10 to 15 of us play VP. Most of the people at the m@g are regular slot players. We will be getting there the Saturday before the Super Bowl and staying until the following Tuesday if anyone is interested in joining us.

It's a game king slant top in the back of the high limit section downstairs.

After that unit, best games to my knowledge are 7/5 Bonus and 9/5 DDB with Double STP for dollars (98.51% and 98.37%), and 25c 8/6 Bonus Poker Deluxe on the 100 play units (98.49%).

I really prefer Ameristar KC, much better games for quarter and lower players, and nicer place too.

I dunno what are plans are that weekend yet, but I'll keep it in mind.

are you doing one of the 7 star events this year?

We didn't get 7 star status till beginning of June and most of the events were taken. Vegas is still open, and we're thinking about it. We had a chance on one of the cruises, but cruising has never really appealed to us. I know people who love them and go repeatedly, but neither of us feel the draw. Maybe because we've been deep sea fishing a couple of times and have gotten violently ill (along with nearly everyone else on board).

How about you?

The GM lounge at Horseshoe Council Bluffs is very large and has better food than either of the CB diamond lounges. Both casinos have video poker. There is more video poker and a better selection of games at Horseshoe. And the casino at Harrah's is tiny. There is a shuttle that goes back and forth between the two casinos so I bet you spend most of your time at Horseshoe. We did like the Steakhouse at Harrah's though.

Chatty, thanks for all the info on Council Bluffs. Sounds like we will be running over to the Horseshoe in between our playing times. Good to hear they have a shuttle.

Thanks for wishing me luck in the contest, but it is anybody's game. Luck back at you!!

How about you?[/QUOTE] We are finishing up our 4th full year of seven star with CET. My wife is a walking encyclopedia of seven star benefits and we would be happy to help you any way we can in taking full advantage of the program. Almost everything we know about the seven star program we learned from other seven star cardholders or by going to the website sevenstarsinsider.com. If you do not already know about it, add it to your favorites and refer to it often.

I am assuming that this is your 1st year as a seven star cardholder? That being the case there are a number of benefits you may not have taken yet. To start with you get a diamond level 1 dinner voucher in the amount of $100 and a diamond level 2 airfare reimbursement in the amount of $750. Both of these benefits have to be used by the end of March next year. You also will get two seven star trips since this is your first year as a seven star cardholder. These trips come with $1500 airfare, hotel stay, and a $500 dinner. The first trip must be taken by the end of March of 2015 and the second seven star trip must be taken by the end of March 2016. And you get the $500 celebration dinner which I believe you said you have already taken on your recent trip to Reno. And by earning seven star card status this year you will be eligible for next years seven star event.

The seven star event we are taking this year is a cruise from New Orleans the first week of December. We are not big cruisers either but we have been on 5 or 6 of them the last 10 or 15 years. If you decide to do one of the cruise events next year they are worth in excess of $5000. The ones this year CET pays for a balcony stateroom, tips, taxes and port fees, they are paying for all of your drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic anywhere on the ship. In the casino, by the pool, or at one of the restaurants. It really is a great deal. They also have a welcoming party the night before in New Orleans and another welcoming event once everyone gets on the ship. As part of the event they also give everyone a welcoming event rumored this year to be luggage.

If you decide to go on one of these events you must act fast as they go quick. Hope some of this info helps. And thank you for the good luck wishes in the monthly contest. I sure need it. In the last 3 days I have only had one 4oak in 1500 hands. But tomorrow is a new day. Good luck wishes back at you.

chatty, thanks so much for all of the seven star info. I think I had already learned all or most of it, but it is great to have all of the info in one place. I keep learning things by asking at the individual casinos. We should probably start a topic just for this.

For example, at Joliet, if you eat at the Reserve (their steakhouse), you and your companion each receive a free dessert (and their desserts are very nice -- we usually have them wrap something and take it back to our room for a breakfast). They also offer free wifi (to all guests) and free movies to seven stars. They are very generous with food comps in the casino. The Diamond Lounge and daily lounge buffet is so-so, but they do have a separate seven stars room attached with a seven stars menu. Quality of food varies. Another tip, not just for seven stars, at the Reserve on Wednesday nights, a bottle of wine from the wine list is half price. Oh, and if you are seven stars and stay overnight, they slip a breakfast comp for two at the buffet (not lounge) in with your room keys. By the way, the food at the Flavors buffet is generally less than average, but their soups are usually excellent. So I usually have soup and salad and one small dessert item. It is a shame about the quality, because they do offer quite a variety -- it just seems that everything is overcooked or dried out. They had a much larger buffet at Harrah's Reno with many of the same items, but Reno cooked theirs beautifully and thus the food was much better.

Reno, as I've mentioned earlier in this post, will give show ticket comps and also you can get boat ride comps down in Tahoe. They also gave us free Wi-Fi and movies. If you are a guest, you can go to the gift shop each AM and get your choice of a free paper (applies to all guests, not just seven stars).

I hope others will share more about comps from other Harrahs casinos and I'll add more as I think of them.

That trip you are taking from New Orleans was the one that was available when we became seven stars. We thought about it for quite a long time, and had we known you or someone else who was going on it we might have been inclined to give it a try.

When does Harrah's send out the seven stars info for the next year?

And, Chatty, congrats on getting back on the board!!

I take it you are referring to our 36 years of marriage plus 2 more of living together (we were ahead of our time). It still shocks me that we have been together that long. We were really good friends who just enjoyed being with each other more than with anyone else. We're still best friends. Thanks for the anniversary greetings!

It is always awesome when you find your "soulmate".   I finally found mine and she is my best friend as well.
