Recreational players far outnumber the serious ones. If the demand is there, basic economics suggests they should leave things the way they are.

Never been there, but if it is described as "Bellagio of the Gulf Coast", that says enough about the appeal.

I too would play video poker at Boyd's IP but just blackjack at Beau.

You are correct.  The Beau Rivage is one of the nicest hotels on the planet, but their video poker odds are highway robbery. The only reason we go there is they give us free rooms and some food.  The Cheap Strategy is the only way you can survive for more than a day or so.  If you keep feeding max coins into a game like that, you deserve what you get.  As long as they keep giving us rooms we'll keep going and playing as cheap as possible.  The Silver Slipper has Airport Deuces starting at .50 cents.  It's pretty smoky, but at least you feel like you have half a chance.

Thanks for the post and comments on Biloxi. We've only been there once and VP was very very good to us at Beau and okay at Harrah's - only two places we played. We're heading back in a few days and will be sure to check out the Nugget. Thank you!

the few hands separating OK results from disaster. Just back from an overnight marathon at Mohegan Sun.Olds, we've all been there. I love narrowly escaping disaster almost as much as winning! I get so emotional that I leave my seat. Don't even think about taking my money, Bally's/Caesars/Trop!I always get a chuckle when you refer to the marathons. What kind of itinerary is that, exactly? I may attempt a variation at some point.

Congratulations on the $2,000 worth of euphoria on the screens. It would have been tolerable to drive home a loser, but much better to break even.

Actually, Steve Wynn was building what is now The Bellagio and The Beau Rivage at the same time. The Vegas property was originally named The Beau Rivage, but when Harrah's started construction on Paris directly across the street, Steve decided to switch names of the two properties.

I will be at The Beau next week, actually.

I appreciate that interesting fact! Both places took casino architecture to a whole another level, and Steve Wynn is definitely the mogul that started that trend. I personally do not care for it as it tightens the pay tables for slots and raises the minimum required to play at the table games.

Enjoy your time at the Beau, can you find out if the blackjack over there allows for surrendering on their 6 deck ones? Especially good luck if you seek to conquer their video poker games.

Just returned from a trip to Biloxi, staying at the Beau Rivage. Had a great time. VP was pretty kind to me, albeit the less than 100% paytables. I enjoy playing TDB $1. Here are some highlights...

I tried out a couple of the machines that had Frenzy Poker with TDB at $1. Had some good hands...

As a side note, I have seen a few posters here on Forum saying they believe that the VP deal is random, but the draw may somehow be adjusted to not catch premium hands. All my handpays were on drawn hands. It's a small sample, and doesn't prove anything, but it is what I experienced.

Nice hits!

And good to see the Beau at least gives 8/5 TDB (95.98%) for multiline dollars. And extra draw frenzy pushes it into the 96.2-96.3% range. I think billyjoe used to show some 7/5 TDB (94.92%) pics at $5 from the high limit room... You can't even offer 7/5 TDB if you find a Extra Draw Frenzy unit.
