all the gun murders listed in other post, equals about one half the annual gun murders in chicago alone. one of the most restrictive cities in america regarding gun ownership.   As of July 1 2015 the number of murders in Chicago was 216, that number has increased by about 15 since; 3 this weekend alone.
i think that equals just about all the number of murders the poster had in his lengthy list, in about 6 months, in just one city, with strict gun controls. i am not a gun owner, but i think about it more, as i get older. not a defender of the NRA, but i am certainly getting more defensive about more of my rights being taken away or curtailed, because some other group always thinks they know what is better for everyone. and, i agree with DB, evil does exist and you just cannot 'talk' to them, sometimes, they need to be confronted and destroyed. i feel for every person destroyed/affected by someone else who for whatever reason, guns them down. but, i am damn tired of political correctness or ideology determining whether one stands up and talks about it. and, that is exactly what POTUS has done. he wasted no time speaking on behalf when one racial group was affected, but not a beep, when an illegal, with an extensive history, kills an innocent girl in SF. why, because it does harm to his immigration policy. he and the 'left' lose all credibility.

good question.  another question, why did POTUS allow 'rainbow colors' to be shown on WH, when gay marriage approved, but just a couple of days later, on july 4th, no colors.

DaBurglar in 2013 10,076 people died in drunk driving crashes in the United States. You are also wrong about the NRA vehemently opposing background checks. Geez...

The NRA wants the right people to own guns; they are just as against people: suffering from mental illness; criminals; and the like, from legally owning guns. DaBurglar if people want a gun in Chicago it's as easily available as a lotto ticket and the NRA has nothing to do with it.100% wrong ....AND, irrelevant.

On the contrary Da I think his post is very relevant. As Fatz pointed out you do not need a mental evaluation to buy a gun. You do not need one to drive a car either.

You do not need one to drive a car either.wtf......First off, what does drunk driving have to do with this?   How is that even remotely related to Guns, Gun violence, ownership, the NRA, dead marines, or the price of cocoa?Ted could not win a debate against himself, let alone anyone else.....The NRA is notorious for opposing ANY further restrictions or "checks" on gun ownership no matter what it is.....you might find some NRA members who say they support background checks before issuing licenses, but the organization routinely opposes any such ACTUAL measure. And how come no one even bothered to notice that I stated another even more compelling fact which makes this entire line of debate almost pointless:  there are so many ILLEGAL & unregistered firearms in this country, the situation is now totally out of control, no matter what government(s) OR the NRA say or do....... go look up the latest story out of Los Angeles, where they found a deceased man in a home that contained 1200 (ONE THOUSAND, TWO HUNDRED) GUNS of all types, caliber and design!!!!  plus two tons of ammo.......WTF?!?!?!?!?

it is estimated that there approx 300 million guns in america. according to CDC, about 32k deaths from guns. 60% of those deaths are suicides. tragic, but the reality is, some folks are going to end their own life and they will find a way to do it.  11,000 of those deaths via guns were murders. eleven thousand out of a population of over 300 million is 0.000037.   what i was unable to find, was how many of those 11,000 gun murders were related to gangs and drugs. only a guess, but likely a signifcant number.

DaBurglar the United States military just can't waltz into Mexico or South America to go after the drug cartels without cooperation from the governments of Mexico or whatever South American country you allude to. The drug cartels get protection from these same governments and I found it laughable when the United States applied to the Mexican government for extradition rights to El Chappo.

The name of the city you also mentioned is CHICAGO, there is no letter t in the spelling of this city.

Don't lose sight of the original topic of this thread.
