Re: Tipping for Drinks?
i drink water and always tip. Several of the regulars who work where I play across from the bar immediately ask if I want my standard order of a bottle of water or will bring it to me when they see I'm at a machine even before I ask. I'll also try to tip something if one the players next to me fails to give a tip to regulars. An extra $ never hurts my play in the long run and I sure wouldn't want their job for 8 hr/day.
I'll also try to tip something if one the players next to me fails to give a tip to regulars.
I like this idea. I think I'll start doing this when I see someone stiff the drink girl. Maybe it will teach a few people to think about someone other than themselves (or maybe not).

I had someone compensatory tip on my behalf back in the day. It was one of the most mortifying feelings I have ever had. Message received.

Some players can't see past the end of their beak and don't give a horses butt whether or not. Perhaps if they had worked in the service industry once in their lifetime, they might be more sympathetic. Many WON'T tip thinking it will affect their overall ER yet they have no problem asking a server to bring them refreshment.

I always tip a dollar for a drink because I remind myself that the majority of the casino employees are paid minimum wage and rely solely on tips. They need them more than the table game dealers since most of them have horrible things going on in their lives when you overhear them in a conversation with a local player. To get value from it, I ask for a bottle of water to go along with the juice/coffee. If it is a more than a 2 hour session on a machine, I'll tip $2 for the final drink.

I could be wrong but I had heard in Vegas the drink attendants (waitresses, waiters, drink servers, etc.) have to pay the tax on the alcoholic drink they serve, so not tipping means they actually lose because they have to pay anyway even if there is no tip or it's not delivered because the person left before it was delivered.
I'll tip $1-2 for a drink and like the ideas listed above of giving a tip even if I'm not ordering anything. They work hard and at times have to deal with some very unruly people.

When I wheel by all the table games in every casino I am in, I stop and tip the dealers even though I am not playing because, hey, I feel like"I am in their casino breathing their smoke filled air, therefore I should leave a tip! Likewise with all the maids in the Hotel, even if I am NOT actually sleeping or staying in a room in that hotel, I leave them all a tip because, HEY, I am in their hotel and I just as easily could flop down and pass out in their rooms as any other, plus they all no doubt are here illegally doing ESSENTIAL work that NO naturalized citizen would be caught dead doing, they deserve my support!Every restaurant I pass by I tip the wait staff whether or not I eat there....same principle.Do we really need to beat this topic to a pulp again? Tipping ( or not) is a personal decision.....there is no right or wrong, no HARD and steadfast rules, NO requirement to TIP, so what each of us does is important ONLY to ourselves. We cannot make ourselves look better than anyone else by alleging on this forum that we perpetrate random acts of generosity, nor does it matter if one of us (like BOB dancer) NEVER tips in most situations. Tips (or GRATUITIES) have long since been warped to become EXPECTED and this is the fault of rich, greedy businesses who refuse to pay their workers a living wage to attract competent people....tipping would not be needed if the minimum wage were elvated to something reasonable and respectable, and it would have tremendous benefits to the economy as a whole......the FALSE argument that the "cost" of paying $11 or $12 an hour minimum would kill business is pure 100% LIES and false reasoning, just like the argument that raising the tax rate even a LITTLE on the richest 10% in this country would "KILL JOBS" (no evidence, no link, no such thing.)

the top 10% of usa income earners had incomes of $116k, made 45% of all income and paid 68% of all federal income tax. the bottom 50% of income earners paid 3% of total federal taxes. how much more do you want the top 10% income earners to pay?
