My understanding is that the person who hits the jackpot is the person to whom any tax related paperwork should be issued - irrespective of whose card is in the machine.

My understanding as well. In fact, a few years ago, a foreign patron sitting a few seats from me hit a Royal and had someone else's card in. That person was not around and they refused to pay the person sitting at the machine because he had no ID at all....Hmmmmm...I don't know the final result on the payout or not, but the slot attendant also told me the same thing. Whoever is sitting there and hit the button is the one.
Yes, who ever is sitting there and if they have no ID .. They take 25% taxes right off the top.
You are all correct the player determines the "G tax liability" not the card. The reason I wanted Sweet C to take the "G" is that we had been playing on her cards and if I took the "G" I would show a hand-pay and no play for the day. That would dramatically lower my Average Daily Theoretical and could cost me $$ on my weekly cash offerings. I have already made my 125K point for the cycle for top tier and won't start over until Jan 2016.   Sweet C has until April 30 since she is still on a six months cycle and started over in October. We help each other reach top tier and this also increases our weekly cash back tremendously in both the weekly amount and in cash back for play. At 10¢ cash back per point as top tier (versus 3¢/next tier down) we can get cash back up to $3,000. Playing together we can often hit 10-15-20K points in a trip.

good to see you posting again larry i was getting worried about you and sweet c

Been up to my .... in students with a double student load this semester...luckily only three more days until I turn in grades and half of my student teachers have already secured jobs. Man do we need a casino overnight trip.

Speaking of casino trips: We have mixed feeling since our Houston Cougars are playing tomorrow for a chance to go to a New Year's Day bowl. I've already made contacts with a casino host and have reservations in Phoenix for a 4 night stay if they go out there.    Our dilemma is we'll have to sacrifice our big New Year's trip to Coushatta and all the perks top tier affords us.      Such are the problems in life....

Do many casinos really care if married couples play on the same card? Nice hit!

I hit a 1$ royal with my wifes card in the machine a few months back. I was nervous about what would happen, but I just told the attendant and she said no problem, we will just use my card and verify with my ID. That was at a Penn property.
But the slot attendant took your player's card number down? I guess to put the W2G data on your player account? Hopefully that didn't trigger a gaming day...unless you triggered one already. But I would trigger a gaming day for a W2G I suppose...
Exactly the position I was trying to avoid. On several occasions this has happened to us and we can usually make it up by playing on our individual cards afterwards but this was a time limited trip with only about 2 hours left before we had to leave.

Larry, great hit and story......and I admire your intestinal fortitude being a "Houston Cougars" fan......   You've had many years of frustration so you must enjoy finally having this year's results to ponder and have your team be relevant once more......long gone are the glory days of watching opponents playing the Houston Cougars scream "Where is ANDRE WARE going to throw (or run) that football NEXT????!!!!!!"      I remember the whole 1989 college season being one long "Andre Ware for Heisman Award Campaign Highlight reel (which he ultimately won!)"....setting the stage for the Run and Shoot Offense to be taken the next level by Andre's successor, the one and only (DRUM ROLL PLEASE).....................um, er,......David Klingler!?!?!?!?! But seriously, My word of advice, don't get rattled or actually "FIB" when faced with situations like the one you found yourself facing, where you are frantically trying to find your wife while face to face with A casino employee/manager.....just tell them the truth, because afterall they are in the "Happiness Business" as far as customers go, and when word leaks out about players having problems being paid or being denied payment on jackpots, it has a ill-effect on business (hence, your anxiety about being paid with your wife's card in the slot is not necessary).....BUT when you utter statements that are untrue or can be shown to be untrue (like saying your wife is in the Can, when a quick look at the video, which can often happen after ANY jackpot, will show this to be False) you only set yourself up for possible Headaches.       Hence, as cliche as it sounds, stick with either the TRUTH, or just saying as LITTLE as possible as the situation unfolds. You and sweet c are too nice a couple to get jammed up because of some otherwise trivial BS.

They take 25% taxes right off the top.
We Canadians have 30% withheld. We then have to file a US tax return to, hopefully, recoup the withheld amount.
