Way to go, Doris!I suspect your words to the "windows tech support" would just be bleeped in red, if presented here.
"Don't forget to add your cell phone number to the National Do Not Call Registry (donotcall.gov) so that you don't receive unwanted solicitation calls." was just in our local paper.

Snopes.com: "Pressing #-9-0 on your telephone will allow scammer to make long distance calls and charge them to your phone bill"
Another email just received: Someone posing as A T & T Service Technician OR Telus may call saying they are testing telephone lines and please press 90#. DO NOT COMPLY. Some of these originate from prison/jail and they can then charge calls to your phone.
So we can help stop these scammers by JUST HANG UP and publicizing their scams!

Interesting tidbit. But who is casually entering #90 on their phone in the first place? AT&T is a large chunk of the market, granted. Pretty nifty scams.

There should be a program or an app that would cause a scammers phone to explode on them when they call a number that has that program or app installed on it.

I never answer the phone anymore unless I know who it is.
I get at least 6 robo calls every day between my home phone and my cell phone. I probably miss calls that are real people, but then they leave me a voice mail and I call them back.
If you answer the phone, Mr. Robo knows you're a live person, and they'll never leave you alone.
I don't think there's anything anyone can do.

well done Doris, OTABILL and Jimdeuces! You are like me, I like to "have fun" with these lazy idiotic moronic criminals too! I play along with them and totally get them to think they "have me" and then I drag it out, I bring up totally irrelevant issues (like "will taking the steps you are telling me to do with cleaning up my computer lower my chances for testicular cancer?")......My mother received the same IRS BS a week ago, except they said a warrant for her arrest had been issued! lol Yeah right, the country owes 20 Trillion and yet the IRS is going after a 75 year old grandma!!This problem is but one very very small symptom and example of the LARGER REAL problem that is driving almost all of the social and political problems in the country, and world at large. It is not a Democrat or Republican issue per se, nor is it income gap related, not race related or any of that......it is a PEOPLE and the lack of MORALITY problem existing in the world today. This is true....there is a massive tendency to do WRONG, to be "BAD" or immoral, and NO ONE fights it anymore, they just make excuses or join right in!!! Please note, I am not advocating what you think I am: Whether you are talking about an actual person who commits welfare fraud, or a so-called "WEALTHY" person who cheats on their taxes or employs questinable methods to shield his wealth from paying his fair share, it is the SAME THING: a selfish immoral tendency to NOT simply be honest and forthright. Whether a person abuses a house full of animals or callously drives drunk, there is a huge issue with respect for life; whether someone repeatedly cheats on a spouse or engages in promiscuous LGBT "activities", they are sexually immoral and will cause much stress and problems for themselves and others, again showing a lack of respect. I could go on and on......the VIOLENCE rampant in society, and especially the WORLD, is perhaps the worst example.....PEOPLE are getting worse. It is a very very short step from the XENOPHOBIA of today, where people blame a disproportionate (or even ALL) share of society's ills on "Foreigners or illegal immigrants", and the spectre of the Nazis, and genocide. Thus, whether it is someone calling you on the phone, invading your peace and privacy at home, to make absurd attempts to get you to part with YOUR money, or it is someone who approaches you in a casino with the INFAMOUS "I lost my ticket and need money to get home" story, it is the same BS: a dishonest, selfish, no conscience person pulling some crap.....when the world has a large enough number of such people, things are about to totally fall apart.
