Re: buying a pizza
Keep in mind a game that has a pay table that indicates 96%
Payback includes the payout for a max coin Royal. Receiving 62.50 instead of $1000 lowers your ev even more. You are paying for eight slices but your delivery boy scoffs one down before you receive it.
I believe in disciplined gambling. Long before I looked into video poker, I read everything I could find by Max Rubin and Jean Scott. They specialize in pushing the limits of comps and player points. Jean pointed out a promo at a casino that I turned into a couple hundred dollars in cash.
Max helped me get many a suite on your standard room offer.
I paid for a cheese pizza and got free toppings and a side salad.

do you think you are the only one who knows a RF is about 2% of the payout? did i not say 96% and HIGHER? selective editing on your part. do you think you are the only one is trys to milk every comp dollar they can? get every freebee possible? and, get your posters straight, i only play max coins? you may have some history of playing BJ, but some on this site have been playing VP for decades. glad you are a disciplined gambler. what a novel idea, never thought of that. keep us abreast on all your success living/playing in vegas.

Why so angry? You asked for a discussion.
Have you read Rubin and or Scott? That's a simple yes or no question?

There's no need to get angry about any of this stuff. Most forum members don't need pizza price comparisons to understand video poker math. Exclusively limiting your play to only those games where you have an advantage is Bob Dancer's strategy and it's as perfect as it gets. However, If you have nothing except pay to play games to choose from and you want to play anyway, pick your price of admission and go for it. Just be aware it costs more to play most negative games with max coins even when you factor in the royal flush bonus. If that's worth it to you, it's the right choice for you. For all you mathematically challenged pizza lovers out there, I will be happy to post the spreadsheet.

You asked for a civil discussion and this is the way you react when someone disagrees with you.
Give a fool enough rope and they'll hang themselves every time.
PS - I'm guessing by your non-response you've never read the books I asked if you had. Thats a shame.

if you live in a place with a large population, you can normally find a variety of pizzerias, get the kind you like and with a little effort, find someone who has it on sale. but, if you live in a one stop light town, there may be only one pizza place. you either pay the price they ask, travel some distance to get a better deal (losing the savings with travel expense) or go without it.   isn't this like VP for many folks? some live in a place with limited, sometimes just one casino. they could travel and the expenses might eat up any potential advantage , play what they can get or they just do not play. if you live in a place with a vast selection, it is easier to find games that are more competitive, and with an effort find someone who has VP 'on sale'.Â
Though not lucky by a mile in total return on vp, I guess I am lucky in that I have a shot at the same within an hour's drive and can choose from dozens of 99% machines. I can also enjoy the best pizza in the USA by just driving a few minutes into New Haven. Not necessarily in order of the three best are Sally's, Pepe's, and Modern Pizza. Mohegan Sun even has a Pepe's on site, its OK, but not as good as the original location.

Gotta love the 99ers. I always play more serenely knowing that at least I have put myself in the bedt possible position to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

One of the great things about Long Island is the amazing pizza. I have not had a lot of luck finding good pizza in Vegas. Johnnies NY Pizza, across from the Hard Rock is pretty good but expensive. Boston Pizza is okay. The shop in the El Cortez seems good, but service sux.
If anyone can recommend a spot around Henderson, I'd appreciate it.

Aside from buying the 3 Kroger's frozen self-rising crust pizzas for $11 at Smith's, I have yet to find a decent pizza here in the Vegas Valley too.
