notes - good luck to you during your trip.

thanks ted. it's vegas, even when I lose and I normally do, an occasional trip there, is worth the price of admission.

DB, cannot really comment on AC anymore. I may go there only 1-2 times a year, just not a compelling reason to go there anymore and that is a shame. as others have posted, the north side is empty and that desertion just illuminates the broken down/dirty parts of the city.

I have said before, there will be courses taught about AC's demise. how the gov, the casinos, the unions and the workers forgot about the customer and forgot people will go elsewhere if taken advantage of. I refuse to believe that AC's failure was simply competition from bordering states. it did not help, but AC caused their own problems.

complete opposite of how vegas is run. business folks set the agenda and gov is there to assist. low taxes, keep updating, offer a good product, safety/clean.

I hope it works out well for you - so well that you regret it's only a couple of days!

notes you are absolutely correct - it's Vegas BABY!!!!

To add: I may be in Southern California mid-September and I'm kicking around taking the drive to Las Vegas while I'm in the neighborhood. But then again I could checkout some of the California casino offerings if time prevents me from going to Las Vegas. I prefer Las Vegas in 5 day stretches so 1 or 2 days may not work for me.

everyone can choose to spend as much time in a casino as they desire. for me, my concern is the more time, the more money I am likely to lose. I cannot control the machines or good/bad luck, limiting my time is one of my forms of money management.

another thing I find and maybe it is only me, but I can only tolerate so many days of the machine noise, loud music, the lights, etc. the very reasons I love going, wear on me after awhile.

You stay, you pay. That has long been my mantra.  The day I hit an afternoon Royal Flush I will flush the mantra, of course. But usually the give back kicks in and the subsequent out of pocket losing just piles up! And the loud machines are a killer. The rundown in my town: multiplay exotic games behind my Caesars bank are unbearable. Bally's offers some auditory relief. But their stand alone machines leave nowhere to rest belongings or arms. Resorts and Tropicana are deafening. Borgata is bearable, but the boorish bar patrons ruin the experience anyway. Golden Nugget will fleece patrons before they can even notice the noise. Taj has nine toes in the grave. Harrah's is okay on sound. The carousel system marginalizes the nattering neighbors too. Thanks for venting.

notes, have a great trip. Look forward to your report. May the Royals be with you. We agree too much fun can be too expensive and really tiring. But, then again, we're getting older and those 3-4 AM going to bed mean we have to sleep in most of the next day.

LL, thanks to you and all for the best wishes. but as ted says, it's vegas baby, it will be a good time, win or lose.

for me to go to a casino, I need to travel some distance, I always need to stay overnight. and, while I can be quite disciplined about most all money matters, I am not going to be at a casino, and not play. so, I do little things that will limit my losses on those bad days. so, I only play single line quarters- never raise my bet and most trips are only one night.

I love all the noise, excitement, the lights, but as you say, I too am getting older, I guess my body can only take so much fun. used to play until 2-3am, now, I go to bed earlier and get up early and play some more.

I will certainly let all know how I did. I always expect to lose, so when I break even or better, it is a pleasant surprise. thanks again.
