I don't have vision or dental coverage on my current plan. I have a small business and me and my 2 partners have the company reimburse vision and dental costs. I'm lucky to be in good health and spend $300/yr for dental checkups and cleanings and about the same for Contact Lenses and a new pair of glasses every 2-3 yrs. I am not on any prescription meds. So I'm wondering why I should spend hundreds a month  for vision, dental and drug coverage. Parts A and B should cover hospitaization and doctor visits correct. I don't mind paying a litte out of pocket for doctor visits. I know I need to sit down and talk to a specialist. Thanks for your input.

I would definitely recommend consultation with a specialist. The trouble with health is we never know what tomorrow will bring. The 20 percent that medicare doesn't cover could wipe one out for a serious condition. Speaking of dental costs....just one root canal, crown, and post for one tooth can cost 1400 bucks or more. I know been there done that. An implant can be 5k for one tooth. Serious vision conditions could have almost unlimited expenses. It is great that you are in good health now, but at some point, most of us will need this kind of stuff and more. Another thing Medicare does not cover is hearing aids. My mom had to have them a few years before she passed. Try 4k for each ear...all out of pocket for my folks. People just have no idea how much health care costs until you yourself are in the situation. While you are at it, see a good elder care attorney to set up things for your loved ones. My folks didn't and well you know the rest of the story from below. As to drug coverage, the sky is the limit for drug companies for some drugs when you find you need them and have no insurance. Just look at what one company did with the Epipen now about 700 bucks a shot and on and on. Cancer drugs can go off the chart so nobody can afford them.
