Re: Robbed in parking lot
As with others have said, sorry to hear what happened to you kk. In reality people just do not prepare for such things until it happens. It is extremely rare to find someone who has not been a victim of theft yet, and you will find out what truly the police are good for, absolutely nothing...
It is just not at racinos or casinos, almost every large shopping mall/plazas or establishments protect themselves by posting signs all over the place that they are not responsible for what goes on in the parking lot.

The key on my computer doen't work occaionally and I really hould end my keyboard out to the rapair hop by the ea hore. I don't know if the key ju t tick on it' own or if I pilled omething on my keyboard. [/QUOTE]
I was honestly fooled myself too. I am constantly reminded of one of my favorite football players myself, the great Joe Montana who shares the same title. I wonder if he plays VP or Keno now that he is getting up there in age.
All things aside, I enjoy the enthusiasm that is brought here when it could be dull most of the time.

That sucks, but perhaps you shouldn't leave large amounts of cash in a unattended car.
Well maybe I shouldn't have but I did, truth is there's been times when there was more than that in my vehicle. It goes without saying I won't let it happen again. I know quite a few people who will hit a jackpot and take some of the cash to their vehicle so they don't lose it all. The police suggested I install a bolted down lockbox to keep my money and other items of value in. One of the police officers said that someone else had $5k stolen from their vehicle. I was less than 300 yards from the front entrance right where they valet park cars and it was broad daylight.

The fact is these smaller, one-off, stand alone gambling establishment around the country in various states are where the dregs of the community gravitate towards.....its just the way things are....Having a racino, or even a single hotel/casino located in some isolated or run down part of an urban area naturally lends itself to this type of crime. Plus, once you factor in the POSSIBILITY of complicity (or collaboration) by some or all of the racino security staff, then you have a horrible situation for the players. Staff can supplement their incomes very nicely via theft (as ko king saw) and various schemes and scams...

I know how to properly use punctuation marks, i.e. periods, with parenthetical sentences. I learned THAT in 3rd grade English class.

To be honest a buddy said he wouldn't be surprised if security was somehow involved. As far as I'm concerned I don't think security was involved in the actual crime, I do however believe what two different police officers there told me, which was they need more security. The thieves were good and fast, they look for nice vehicles they can pull right up next to, someone on the passenger side jumps out, pops your lock and grabs anything od value, it only took seconds to commit the single break in.

That's usually how it works ko. With what is ultimately at stake;loss of job, jail, loss of future employment opportunities, leads me to believe security wasn't involved.
Back when Harrahs opened in Joliet circa 1993, after exitingthe casino a very good friend of mine was robbed and stabbed in the parking tower directly across the street from the casino and hotel. He ultimately recovered and to my knowledge, security was in no way: involved in the crime.
More recently a woman and her son were robbed by a pair of thugs who followed them home after they left Horseshoe Casino Hammond Indiana. The amount taken was $600.00.

It is a definite concern. Security at a casino is to protect the casino, not the patrons. Casinos have signs disclaiming liability for cars parked in their parking lots. However, court decisions have repeatedly upheld that a business has an obligation to offer at least a minimum level of security to patrons who are on the property, and signs of disclaimer cannot waive this liability UNLESS the patron signs a waiver that is properly executed. My point is this: If I were Ko King and my vehicle was less than 300 yards from the front entrance and there were valets present along with close circuit security monitors, I would file a lawsuit against the casino for the damages, or threaten to, and then see if they are amenable to reaching a settlement. I guarantee you they do not want the publicity of a lawsuit from someone whose car was broken into in broad daylight 300 yards from the main entrance.

Not wanting to be critical here, just a suggestion. Never leave anything of value in a parked car. Even packages, a nice leather coat in full view, or pocket change in the cup holder can be enough of an incentive to thieves to pick your vehicle. One trick I use is to take my 1998 Saturn to the casino. Believe or not I still use a club on it. Even older vehicles like Hondas, Toyotas, and yes even Saturns have great value for their parts. For the gals, never ever leave a purse in view in the car even if empty. I have a friend who used to do that because she switched purses when she got to the casino leaving the empty one in the car. Her car was broken into three times. She never learned even after the first or second time. She did learn after the third time because the thieves were so pissed there was nothing in the purse they did severe damage to the vehicle as well as breaking into it. By the way, none were at Mohegan Sun. Happened at an A/C casino.
