Lots of ex New Yorkers in here - Bronx for me - also in Colorado now. I do see what Phil is saying as true, even in Colorado. Sometimes "they" let you win back 85% of your loss and you go home happy... I am usually loyal to one casino. Then I see that the "comps" that I have attained are not that attractive. I don't go up the hill for a free buffet and I really don't need a free room, and for goodness sakes - I don't need or want any of those worthless gifts. What I want is freeplay. And they have all cut back on that. Attained a pretty high status at Reserve, Ameristar and Monarch. They have all been the same - Freeplay goes up and up. Then for a reason I have not been able to understand is that it all of a sudden goes down. All in all, I don't play with the mortgage money so I am comfortable moving on to see what the next casino will have for me.

Maybe you should try playing without a card and switch machines frequently.
Once the casinos realise it isn't worth having an employee personally track your play, "they" might stop and let you play a fair game.

The housing projects in Queens were a great place to grow up. Nobody had any money, we were all in the same boat, Black, White, Latins, didn't matter. You could always get a pickup BB game going or stoopball, football etc. Had easy access to Shea Stadium when it opened. Never paid to get into a Mets game. Climbed the tall chain link fence behind the bullpen in right center field and hopped on the ledge that was next to the ramps that went up to the upper decks. Jumped over the 3' wall to get on the ramps and you were in. Also never paid to get into the 1964/65 Worlds Fair. Climbed the fence on the Grand central Parkway. Was 13-14 years old at the time and had all the freedom in the world.

I'm not placing those projects. Do you remember the streets?

My complex in Jackson Heights once was home to Babe Ruth.
Several of my neighbors all claimed he lived in their apartment.
After much research, I discover Babe lived in a twelve room duplex and when the buildings went co-o in the early 1970s, they completely revamped those floors and split his Apartment into eight different ones.
My apartment was also revamped. The door to my bedroom has an old doorbell. When the building was designed in the 1930s, my bedroom was the service entrance of a much larger apartment.

Just north of Northern.
I was thinking closer to the Woodside LIRR and Roosevelt Avenue. Okay, those still are projects. The place I was thinking of is across Northern ,on the other side of the tracks. Now called Boulevard Gardens. Much nicer place these days.

Had friends who lived in Boulevard Gardens. They were the "rich" kids, relatively speaking.
