Re: Huge Wheel of Fortune win( tv show)
The Vet deserves it. Is Wheel of Fortune a strategy game or a recreational game?Ridiculous.....just because a person is (or claims to be) a "vet" entitles them to absolutely NOTHING beyond the established governmental benefits and programs (which actually are quite extensive, generous and far ranging, especially if the vet is motivated to take advantage of all that there is....)But to say that a Vet deserves to win the stinkin' price is right more than any other contestant simply because he/she/it is a VET is idiotic....and wrong.Ask yourself, what if the vet is like the vast majority of "vets", someone who VOLUNTARILY chose to join the military, performed the Minimum amount of work and time of service, did nothing of note nor saw actual combat? Or worse, what if he/she/it was a total screwup (believe me there are LOTS of such individuals in the US armed forces)? There is no getting around the fact that the only way to assess or deal with people, of any profession or classification or ethnicity or whatever.....is ONE individual at a time.

DaBurglar obviously the idea of an ALL VOLUNTEER military (except for those military academy graduates) doesn't strike a patriotic nerve with you?
You should do some research on the number of current active military families who collect supplemental assistance from the government. People who VOLUNTARILY choose to enlist who are then faced with monthly choices on what they can and cannot provide their families with. Base provided housing are not great palaces with all the ammenities of your local Waldorf-Astoria, they are lowest bidder built, old and out-dated shacks.
You really are a piece of work.

DaBurglar, what an offensive post! I'm glad my service helped preserve your right of freedom of speech, no matter how ridiculous (and misinformed).

It's an overflowing fountain of benefits, starting with the VA. First and foremost is the stipend for burial. Comes in handy to the families of the 22 a day that commit suicide. Next is medical treatment at a VA hospital or clinic. Phoenix is ranked number 1 as a matter of fact. As being the worst in the country. Seems they have a history of letting Vets die before they can get an appointment. VA home loans don't do squat for the almost 40,000 that are homeless. Most are suffering from PTSD, and are probably rated at 30%, which is about $400.00 per month. If you seek treatment, they'll give you a pot load of pills, which screws you up so bad you can't hold a job.
But you're right, lots of benefits for Vets.
Almost forgot. I get a 10% discount at Home Depot and Lowes when I show them my VA card.

Gunfighter or not, conscript or volunteer Gung Ho or ****bird, ALL the Marines and Sailors I served with did so with honor. Those you classify as screwups deserve respect and probably a hand salute if for no other reason, because they chose to put on the uniform. In my not so humble opinion, you're not worthy of even carrying their jocks. Does the majority you mentioned include those volunteers and screwups of the Greatest Generation as well? Had Hitler been successful I doubt he'd have kept you around. Don't think you fit in to his Superior Aryan mold.

Based on DaBurglar's somewhat regular description of his physical condition it's an almost certainty that Hitler would have given Dr. Mengele free reign to poke and prod on DaBurglar all he wanted.

Most Jack in The Boxes give a 10% discount if you tell them you are a Vet. Never had anyone ask for proof, but a number of counter people don't know it and call a manager over.

Sorry Billy, I gave up on Jack many years ago when they got caught selling "jump meat".
Ref: In 1981, horse meat labeled as beef was discovered at a Foodmaker plant that supplied hamburger and taco meat to Jack in the Box. The meat was originally from Profreeze of Australia, and during their checks on location, the food inspectors discovered other shipments destined for the United States which included kangaroo meat.[23][24]
