About 12 years ago, Mohegan Sun had a double down stud machine ( 6's of better) the old style that hit all the time like crazy. It was a quarter machine. You could only get it about 3 or 4 am and even then there was a wait most times. That year I was dealt 2 Royals on that machine only a couple of months apart for 5k each. Shortly after that, the machine disappeared. I asked a slot tech if it was moved somewhere and he said...No someone dropped it....and that was that.

Casinos are scared to gamble. It happens a lot today when they lower the denominations of ultimate x or Super times pay machines.

At The Beau Rivage in Biloxi, they had a row of five Double Pay, multi-denom, multi-line machines. I was lucky to be playing three line, $1 denom, when I was dealt an RF for $72k.

The next trip that I made there, THE WHOLE ROW of machines was gone, never to return.
You have to wonder...

When it is good, it can be really good. Otherwise, it can go 40 hands or so with nothing. Big payouts as you know on the upper end hits. I usually try them with a 20 or so, sometimes a little more.

I think the deals have a different "feel" to them. It seems to me that now you seldom get dealt a 3 of a kind. Does anyone think that they have changed the random number generator that is used for the deals?

The short answer is "no". The modern VP machine does do continuous shuffling, plus frequent re-seeding within the potential number string, in order to better approach a random selection of cards in play.

The dealt 3 of a kinds seem to come in bunches. Even if you miss most of the quads on the draw, quite a few full houses may come in and make up for most of it. The problem is there can be stretches of hours with hardly any dealt 3 of a kind. That is where the bankroll disappears really fast.

there are still a few old BALLYS machines floating around Trump properties in AC, BALLYs games like DDB and the infamous Gold Mine Bonus Poker, whereby the games operate by dealing the first 10 cards off the top, instead of just continuous shuffle. The DDB game(s) flow much much different on the Bally's machines versus the IGT machines. Obviously the game is slower on Bally's with the top of the deck draw, and I noticed the Bally's machines rarely have premium hits off of crappy initial draws, like A 9 7 3 5 where you keep the Ace.....rarely if ever do you catch three aces on the draw with the ballys machine (which draws from the remaining 5 cards off the top of the initial deck.) But on the continuously shuffling machine, it seems more often do you pull the "miracle draw" and get the four aces premium hand! But there mus tbe some advantage to the casinos having continuously shuffling games because otherwise, they would have requested to stick with the top of the deck draws......right?

Although I have never heard of anyone doing this, if a player could find an exploit in the "old drawing mechanism" (i.e. draw cards selected immediately along with the deal cards), then if they knew what those draw cards are supposed to be, then they could possibly play the game with a positive advantage because they know certain non-standard holds would yield winning hands because of the known draw cards coming.
I seriously doubt anyone actually bothered to pull this off though. But this would be a good reason from the casino's standpoint to switch to the continuously cycling RNG.
