Re: hot /cold machines
I agree with good vp at southpoint, but since i am not technically a las vegas resident i like to play some other places where I most like to stay. I think as long as you avoid large losses those comped room deals are fine to take advantage of. I play tennis and las vegas has a nice community for that, then there are the gyms and movies. I stayed at southpoint this year may 1 2 and 3 and caught the last few days of snowboarding up at lee canyon. That was a really epic adventure and video poker trip. Those mountains out there are amazing. The bonus was that they honored my seasons pass from california, icing on the cake. The other time I stayed at southpoint was last year and they had this huge rodeo in town, I got to chat with all the top stars...and I was playing vp at the bar. Most of those people were so nice and friendly. One guy noticed my speed of play and said I must be a genius, I told him I just dabble. Do any of you notice how freakishly fast you can really play when you are really focused and in the groove. That's primarily why I play for 2 hour sessions, same as a trading session and roughly the same as the length of an average tennis match. Thats my high performance rough limit for concentration. Anything after that and the mistakes creep in.I know it seems many play for more than that and my hat is off to those players. I just can't do it and have top concentration. I think tomorrow Im heading off to laughlin till father's day. Anyone heading there?

Well I doubt if I'm the the only with a raging headache after reading the last 16 pages. Applied mathematics on VP...guys, I can't even balance my checkbook. I go to a casino to have fun...not to pay off the mortgage or get my picture in some gambling rag. Grab the girlfriends, have a few drinks, lots of laughs and have FUN. Playing video poker shouldn't be a chore. Play full pay, play smart and cash out when ahead. And oh yeah...this mathematical bonehead is up $6,000 for the year.

While some of us rant on about the math, you don't need to worry about it. The software tutors available today take care of all that for you. All it takes is a little time to learn the proper strategies and you will maximize your long term results.
However, most players don't even want to do that. That is certainly your choice and, after all, having fun is clearly your priority. I like to have fun as well and winning certainly helps out. I have used my winnings over the years for many things, like a new set of Taylormade irons last year. Two new bowling balls this year. In fact, my current home was partially paid for by my winnings.
We all have our own preferences, likes and dislikes. No one should attempt to tell anyone else what to do. If we were all alike the world would truly be a boring place.

We play mostly in A/C and have lots of "free" gifts. We have a room ful and now the kids and grandkids don't even want them. Last three times at the Tropicana they ran out of gifts and gave us $10 - $25 in slot coupons..... that shows you how expensive these gifts really are. Lost the coupon money in no time at all. Will not go to a casino for the gifts at all.
As far as hot machines go.....I will always play a machine after it hits the jackpot. Last session I went to my husband machine after he hit a 5-kind and I hit one on my first $40 dollars in the machine. We took the money and went home winners. I do see them repeat for the jackpot 5-kind, especially at the Tropicana.
