Re: The Path
I wish I had a quarter for every time FAA has sworn off dollar play, it could probably pay my annual membership for this site.

Even started a thread to that effect fifty days ago if you're counting, and I know you are. Because that's just you. I've had mixed results hanging on to dollar since. But the last straw has hit my back. Thanks for simply reveling in my misery. As you continue to pat yourself on the back for being "good people."You know what? Save it for gamblers your own size.

The quartet in a row.
Dealt quads in any position is: 13 x 48 / 2598960 = 1 in 4165.
To have all the quad cards adjacent, then the kicker has to be either the first card or last card, so that's 40% of all dealt quads or 13 x 48 / 2598960 x 2/5 = 1 in 10,412.5.

FAA I do not revel in your misery as you put it but week after week you post about losing money at the quarter denomination and then chasing after those losses by upping to dollar denomination. You've written about the size of your bankroll and quite frankly you shouldn't be playing at the dollar denomination level during your frequent trips to the casinos. I've suggested that you save up and go less often as this might help give you a bigger bankroll so that you could ride out losing streaks that machines have.
Instead of taking shots at me, which you seem to revel in, why don't you take my advice? I only offer it in friendship.

Vman, what's your background exactly? Apologies if you have covered this before, or if you find the question too invasive... I've been impressed with your applied mathematical acumen.
You went to college, yes? Dumb question probably, since your beer acumen no doubt began in the local favorite watering hole next to your Alma mater's campus, right?

Suicide Sunday. Progressive $1,130! I won $20 with $25 Caesars quarter JOB. But I soon left and lost it plus $40 on dollar JOB. I lost $25 table FP on four to seven craps. Lunch at Harrah's. I lost -$180 on dollar JOB. Notice a theme? It's a terrible game that usually takes five times our money. I now have zero reason to patronize Harrah's. Three straight bust trips. My only marina trips will be for Borgata. I also have NO reason to patronize dollar JOB machines. That should solve my gambling problem in a nutshell. No more ruin. A conservative is a liberal who got mugged. A quarter VP player is a dollar VP player who got mugged. Reality has truly set in. I honestly wish that lightning strikes me down if I ever play one again. Just can't afford it. 82 TC. Net Day: -$240. Glad I don't bear arms.
FAA...would you be interested in meeting me when I make my new revised itinerary to AC in mid-March? Ted's bankroll advice in this specific case is pretty good, and I myself have a few solid tips that will help.
I'll post in AC section about my new itinerary...feel free to respond and interact....

I have a chemical engineering degree. I didn't really drink too much on campus in undergrad. Craft beer wasn't very big back then. Hell many craft brewers have engineering backgrounds as well...
Most of the questions that I answer aren't that difficult once you learn the methods to do them. Just usually need to know how to calculate the combinations in a card deck and how to utilize the Binomial Distribution. And Excel will do the dirty work for you with the Binomial Distribution.
I just tend to answer those that I can with relative ease because I'm curious about how often certain events should happen in VP.
For example, I was very lucky this weekend and did this when someone abandoned a multiplier on Ultimate X machine and I turned it into:
The odds of pulling off two or more quads from a pair on a 3-play game is 1 in 43,360. Definitely the first time I did it for sure!!!

Here's one way to cure your dollar play addiction. Play single coin quarters for one full month. Don't switch denominations and stay with single coin quarters only. By the time you are done with your "treatment", max coin quarters will seem like betting your life savings.

Yeah. That's what I fully intend to do. This dollar addiction is like any other one. It just involves extended travel. It's been real. All too real. I may set foot back in H for their Winter of Jackpots promotion on March 3. But as Mr. D. confirms, some promotions are a poor fit for lower level players.
