Re: Does speed playing really help?
Back to the original question.
I think it helps to understand what is going on inside the VP machine. The RNG probably generates between 200K and a million different possible hands every second. So playing fast (say 1200 hands/hour) still means a person is seeing only 1 of a half million or more possible hands during that time. A person playing 1/4 that speed sees one hand in 2 million or more. Both of these numbers are so big the difference is inconsequential.
Of course, this topic is really just another form of the many myths that surround VP and gambling in general. With the speed of today's computer if it was programmed in some way to "beat" the players, then it would always win. PERIOD. Just look at chess ... computers are now starting to beat the best players in that game.
I always find these kind of discussions humorous. When I ask a person who is repeating one of the many myths if they've ever won, I usually get a strange look and a "yes" answer. When I ask them how that could happen all I get is a bunch of stammering and some kind of "Well sometimes they have to let us win ... " with no real reason why that would be true and what logic would determine who should win and who should lose.

I'm all right with that if you share.

Bob is definitely a high roller but I don't think you'll find many casinos making any effort to bring in known advantage players. It's pretty well known he works with casinos as a consultant as well as teaching players .
I think Bob has stated he plays as fast as can while still maintaining near perfect accuracy. We all have our "grooves" where we can concentrate extremely well while playing comfortably. At one time I couldn't do much better than 600 hands/hour. These days I can do anywhere from 800-1200 HPH depending on the machines and the game. There are others that can play two machines and get upwards of 1500-1800 HPH. However, the speed has no bearing on the results, it only allows one to accrue CB and comps faster.

Bob admits to about $5.5 mil in W2G's last year, which was nothing special for him, so he's rolling in the thin air.

Say what? The guy must live in casinos. What is the man playing? I would love to see a guy like this spend some time playing at the local racino to see how he faired. My hats off to the guy because my eyes and my back would never allow me to play that much.

Yes, but if you know what Bob D teaches, you aren't going to find him at your local racino unless it has nice pay tables.

I once read somewhere Bob likes to play $10, $20 and $25 denoms. Do the math and you can see how he got so much to claim just hitting several RF's and quads w/kickers, maybe even throw in a couple of progressives at lower denoms and you can see that $5.5 mil ain't that unattainable. Of course he has the bankroll to play that high and no telling what it cost as he probably wouldn't list losses except the maximum amount allowed by the govt. for tax purposes as does Shadow and a few others here.
