Frank, this thread was labled as a preview of Dr. McGown's Q&A. I would hope you post the whole Q&A. That might lead to a far different discussion,.

New and I have had our differences on alot of subjects. Yes he is long winded, maybe somewhat anal retentive, and an all around pain in you backside pardon the pun. The differences New and I have were and are all about other things than V.P. Which is well documented in other posts. With all that being said I do not think I would question anything he says about V.P. or math. You might want to take that into consideration. I also find it sad that You struck up a friendship of sorts with Mr. Kneeland then when he did not agree with you. You rapidly threw him under the bus.

Frank indeed is a decent person and I appreciate how he has shown me respect. But he will also be the first one here who recognizes my right to disagree with anything he says, even while your pal New2vp makes and encourages others to make, repeated insinuations that I am the one from the past here whom they fear most--knowing full well Frank mailed a book to me that my wife got at our home in the Midwest. Its as if these guys get so befuddled by what I have to say that the only way they have left to combat it since they carry and display no facts, is to claim Im RS.

If New2vp had half the communications talent Frank Kneeland does, hed get through to more than just the likes of faygo and Eduardo.

I'm sorry but I'll have to recuse myself from this thread at this time. This will be my last post in this thread. If I were any of you, what I'd do is ignore all the negative stuff, the he said she said that has gone before, and focus on the most interesting talking point that came out in this thread.I'm also sorry that you feel that you have to recuse yourself.  If I were you, what I'd do is ignore all the negative stuff, and get on with what I said I was going to do.By discontinuing your part in the thread prematurely, are you practicing positive reinforcement or negative reinforcement? If
you can stick to this one single talking point, stay focused, and keep
an open mind, you all may learn something. Something important!
Something useful!I'm very disappointed that a thread with this much potential for insight and revelation devolved so quickly. It is quite interesting (and possibly revealing of a bias) that you are so disappointed in the devolution of this thread, while you recently played a major role in the degeneration of two other recent threads (Expected Loss for DDB and the one I started simply because you asked me to, Video Poker Distributions are Not Normal) with your babysitting of backsider.  You (and others) rightfully chide me for taking too long to make a point.  Just how many paragraphs and attempts are necessary to explain that earning 30 coins is better than earning 25, without acknowledging the presence of a positive probability that he simply doesn't WANT to get it?  Do you think that coddling is really that interesting to everyone else reading these posts?  Perhaps one man's devolution is another's evolution. You may prefer to stay above the fray and wish "A plague a' both your houses!" but if you don't want to make a decision as to what's more likely right and what's more likely wrong, at least do what you suggest that others should do and ignore all the negative stuff!  I agree that may be both less stressful and a more noble course.By the way, the portion of statistical analysis that involves hypothesis testing is designed to be able to answer questions such as what you are suggesting that the unaided human mind cannot.  But, of course, some human mind, albeit a very gifted one, did in fact come up with the idea of hypothesis testing, so I wouldn't sell all human minds short.Sorry if this was so much in a lecture mode that it offended. If so, mea culpa or perhaps I should just say, "My bad!"

State a casino misconception and then talk about what causes it.Weren't the 7 points that I enumerated and the follow-up post in which I discussed what I thought caused each misconception what you had in mind?  If not, what were you thinking of?Other than the "end machine" misconception that was first mentioned, I didn't see others' posts being responsive to this request of yours.Edit:  You don't have to worry about me devolving your thread to a greater extent as I will be away from my computer for a while.
