That's why, in my case with the $700, I did not feel comfortable just pocketing the money. I did not want to be falsely accused of just roaming a casino to look for tickets. Plus, I felt bad for whoever actually owned the ticket.  I guess it's just me - kinda like tipping on a handpay.

You did what most of us would do and I bet you slept good that night, just like tipping, you might have made someone's day, and all it cost you was a few bucks.  Smile you are a good person.

I found $20 cash in the a tray one time.  I played it through the machine I was on with my some of my own money, about 20 minutes later a lady came by and asked if she left any money and I gave the $20 back.  She was surprised and very thankful.  On the flip side I lost a $800 ticket one time after hitting aces and cashing out.  I put the ticket in my pocket and I guess it didn't make it all the way.  It was not returned..... to me anyways. But I have dropped money out of my pocket around my chair and people have pointed it out instead of waiting for me to leave and trying to pick it up.

Id also have done what you did billy, because it is the right thing to do as we all sholud know. But it is hardly like tipping on a handpay. Thats your money and not anyone elses as it sits in you hand, and it is neither right or wrong to keep it.

faygo, please explain whats meant by UMA. I certainly hope it has nothing to do with violating the forums civility requirement.

Here are a few points to ponder: 1)  A "sticky" button or a button that doesnt work due to wear and tear is NOT the same as a MALFUNCTION....that is why most casinos will often rule in player's favor.  In Nevada casinos are required to ensure all their games are working properly and are in good shape and working order, and anytime one breaks or is on the fritz, they are required to fix the problem  as soon as "possible."  Now, we all know that the reality can be quite varied from casino to casino, especially in this day and age of layoffs and slow economies.....but the fact is, a casino can actually be fined if they are grossly remiss or negligent in fixing and keeping their games in good working order, if the gaming commission deems it warranted or necessary.     Malfunction in the strictest terms is when something goes wrong that is NOT the casinos fault or is unforeseen, like a power surge or electrical storm, or a customer spilling a drink....or the program software just "malfunctions" (lol) and the screen goes haywire.       You see how murky this can get so again, thats why many places just PAY us off rather than try figure it all out.... ** Note:  Last winter in the Tropicana in Atlantic city, they had the roof leaking in a certain part of the Video Poker section, due to the way the place was originally built and how it has expanded over the years; Perhaps some of you remember seeing the plastic tarp spread out over about 10 video poker machines and seeing the buckets in place to catch the drip!   Well, one dude was playing $2 Joker Poker and hit a Royal which was worth $1000 (royals only pay 500 on Joker Poker) when the roof started leaking a steady STREAM onto his game and shorted out his machine!   The guy went bat-sh*t because he had over 1200 bucks in it and It took them 2-plus hours to get it all sorted out and get him his dough, all they while he is ranting about how he could have been electrocuted and casino personel are trying to calm him and assure him he will be taken care of....now that was clearly NOT a malfunction and accordingly the casino paid.  2)  With respect to finding tickets or money in the casino, either in the machines or on the floor, the "Official" policy of most casinos is to have the money/ticket logged and kept in a lost and found location for a period of (usually) 30 days to see if the rightful owner claims it.....if it's a ticket and a players card was used during its play then obviously it is possible to find WHO put the money in to begin with, BUT casinos do NOT actively try to reunite lost tickets with owners;  to the casino, tickets or credits abandoned or lost are considered the same as Money found on the floor.  If after 30 days no one claims it, then the casino usually allows the finder to claim it (Unless it is actually casino CHIPS or "Checks", they are the property of the casino UNCONDITIONALLY;  if you find chips and they are under $500 just keep them, if they are over 500 you are entering a big gray area.)         But here's the point to remember:  More often than not, the casino will tell the "finder" to simply keep the ticket/money without actually coming out and saying "Oh just go ahead and keep it", simply to avoid the nightmare of the documenting and processing involved.

At Caesars last week the Temple poker 1$ machine by the bathroom on the bottom floor has a sticky #3 and #5 card hold button.....playing DB I had a simple pair of aces in the #3 and #5 positions, I hit Hold but the button didnt register either so when I hit DRAW it tossed my whole hand.....and dealt me four of a kind (10s) for a $250 "mistake"  lol   It can work both ways kids!
