Sounds to me, like you'd better stop picking on Mrs. BJ's strategy... Stifel him Mrs. BJ

You mean the 'draw to an inside straight' strategy? I wince every time I see it. I try it - nothing. She does it - hits a straight. Just re-enforces her behavior.

There are many, many games where drawing to an inside straight is a better choice than throwing all five cards away and starting over.

So, One, in your view, is TDB, which is what she plays, one of those games? Straight is 20 credits , when the only reason to be playing TDB in the first place is to get a 'premium' hand, like quad Aces or quad TTFs.

I think we both know that in TDB, drawing to an inside straight rarher than tossing all five cards is the mathematically superior play. I don't much like drawing to inside straights either, but let's face it - it was a crap deal, and you have to make the best of it. If you toss all five, you will get absolutely nothing about 70% of the time. The chances of hitting one of those premium hands you mentioned are in the order of one in ten thousand. Drawing to the inside straight at least gives you a four in forty-seven chance at 20 credits. In all liklihood, you would be successful with this draw 70 to 80 times for each time you tossed all five and hit a premium hand on the redraw.

See, I look at it a different way. If I am dealt 5 crappy cards, that just means that all the good cards are still in the deck, which now is down to 47 from 52. I may not get a premium hand, but I may get at least a paying pair more often than I would get an inside straight.
