Re: Road Trip Strategy
I don't see much difference between BillyJoe's so called "stop loss" strategy and what happens on a one day trip. If I take $250 with me to the casino, when it's gone I have a "stop loss". On the other hand, I've tried every conceivable system to try to determine when to start or stop play and it's not possible to predict. Let's say BillyJoe gets a 4AwK for $2,000 and stops play. He could be giving up another one on the next hand or he could be keeping himself from losing the $2K, who knows. On negative expectation games, I do believe that slowing or stopping play when things are going bad is an option. We all can agree that stopping play stops loses on theses machines.
Every hand is totally independent from the last and the next. No system will prevent you from losing in the short run much of the time. That's the evil part of Video Poker. If you have the guts to lose $30,000 in one afternoon, you could be another Bob Dancer. I wish you a lot of luck.

Just a quick question: You mention that you are going to Biloxi in November and I know BillyJo has been there recently. We are going the 26th of October. Margaritaville is advertising 9/6 jacks or better. Has anyone been there yet or actually find these machines?

A wise man (no, Bob, it wasn't you) once told me regarding casino gaming "You have not won anything until you leave the building". If you win a relatively large JP, and at least stop that playing session, you have a fighting chance of not giving it all back, and perhaps heading home with a little of the casino's money. No guarantees, of course, since you will probably play a little more later in your trip.
At least for me, though, it is 'tougher' to give it all back if I have already taken it back to my room. It is virtually impossible to lose it back if I had taken a large JP as a check from the casino. Human nature, I guess.

Yes, Leigh, I was recently in Biloxi, and in fact, I will be there again this coming week for a golf tournament. Margaritaville was open when I was there last, but I did not go over there. I understand that it is a small casino, but that doesn't mean that there may be some good VP pay tables.
I know when The Palace casino in Biloxi re-opened after remodeling, they had some great VP pay tables. They have now taken them out, however, along with most of their multi-line VP games. The casino manager told me they were getting 'ganged-up on' by the local VP players, and they were just losing too much money on them.

Ok thanks! I just happen to go on to the Margaritaville casino site and they were advertising. Wondering if it was a just a myth, lol. Good luck in your golf tournament!
