Re: The one coin system pays in 2015
I'm neutral on the rigged machine debate. If you've read my website, you will know that I have been a computer programmer for 40 years (started with paper cards and tape). I do not claim to be an expert on everything, but in my opinion it is impossible for anyone to write computer code that produces truly random numbers. Good wild card game streaks happen because the wild cards appear more often. Whether this is by design or a product of the RPG, I don't know. The secret to the Cheap Strategy is not taking advantage of streaks, it's playing as cheaply as possible and keeping your "lucky" max coin wins. If you don't get in a financial hole in the first place, you don't have to swing for the fence to get out of it. I did that for years and all it got me was a big deficit at the end of the year. If you want to play max coins all the time on a negative expectation game, by all means go for it. Just don't beat yourself up too much about your losses.

Try it and you'll see what I mean.
Unless he is as lucky as you have been this past year, I'm not sure of that. At least I sorta hope that you've been extremely lucky, otherwise we have some gigantic VP conspiracy on our hands...which about half of our major posters here seem to believe, unlike the other forums I post in...sigh
I still hold on to faith that casinos in ~20 different states wouldn't be breaking state laws...even though I'm close to 2 cycles in without a royal (which is still definitely possible by the way).[/QUOTE]
Vman...please just don't come even close to my Royalless streaks or they will have to order extra kegs at the bar just for you. I think you will remember over 500k on the first one and 500k plus in the same calendar year. On the second one, I am still waiting, though have stopped counting. You can add about 20k hands for 2015 to the second Royalless streak. I am making up for it in other ways. I am just assuming I will never get one again and so far so good for 2015. Just as an aside, you know I do play a lot of double down stud too till they yank the remaining machines. I had 2 dealt ones in 2001 on DD stud and none since. Just a guess, but about 3 million hands since 2001 just on that game, but at nearly 700k to one, that Royalless streak isn't nearly as mind boggling. Finally, for 2015, there are quite a few new mico brews in my area. I plan on sampling all of them. I will find which ones will be distributed out your way if any and drop a line in one of the posts to let you know. May take a while to try all of them and I can't on the nights I am driving home. Those are O'Douls or Buckler nights only.....

Anything created by man cannot be truly random. As for VP, the current technology used, which includes continuous card shuffling and RNG string re-seeding, 'mask' patterns in such a way that it would take millions of continuous observations on the same machine to have any chance of possibly detecting a pattern. This could only be effectively performed with the use of another computer, which of course, is not allowed in the casino.

Olds, if it's any consolation to you I hit my first Royal in 2003 and didn't hit another one for five years. I hit 4 in 24 hours in 2008, so maybe your turn is right around the corner.

Amen to that Phil. I've been playing less than maximum coin on Video Poker for years, but it took a while to get over the feeling that I was cheating myself out of some really good payouts. I've had about 3 Royals since I started playing (about 10 years ago) but have never had one at full coin. I hit one on a quarter machine in Atlantic City while playing single coin and a woman next to me pointed out that I would have won a lot more if I had been playing the maximum bet. I told her that if I had been playing full coin I would have been out of money about two hours ago!

Brains are basically pattern recognition devices. That means we are always looking for patterns. We see them even when the don't exist.
Phil has been looking for a "new strategy" for years. That's not a bad thing, but it was pretty predictable that whenever he finally hit a good run, he would think the strategy change was responsible.

I pick out patterns all the time. Usually when you try them yourself, they don't repeat. I think that is why the casino posts the roulette results on the light board for the last 20 spins or so. People get sucked in easily on that stuff. Phil has a good money management system. It will definitely keep losses down. Back in the 1980's I remember being at the old Playboy club casino in A/C. There had been quite a few roulette hits on black and hardly any on red for several minutes. I decided to bet on red and add a chip every time black came in until I won. I still remember. There were 14 consecutive black spins and of course I busted my budget which was about 200 bucks back then after 8 or 9 black hits and it just kept going all the way to 14. After that, 3 consecutive 0 or 00s came in and still no red. I haven't played roulette since. In 1992, when Foxwoods first opened, I played a little blackjack. The dealer got blackjack 11 out of 13 hands. I never played that again either except once in a great while on a vp machine for just a few hands. Craps on the other hand, I would like to get back into combined with vp. The next hand pay if any will be saved for the craps table.
