Don't casinos win with people who use Phil's method by paying out 250 credits instead of 4,000?No, they win by busting people who are giving away all their money chasing royals.
Seriously, I never advocated playing single coin all the time. The Cheap Strategy is a "progressive" strategy where you make max coin bets in rhythm with the game. The idea is to limit your losses and keep your max coin wins. If everyone played that way, players would keep a lot more of their money and the casinos would go broke overnight.
Phil I guess a lot of people reading these posts just don't get the system. They have never gave it a try or never gave it long enough time to work. For 2015 YTD I have 167,000 coin in using systems other than max bet. I am down $140. The system works if you stick with it. It works for Phil, Works for me and OLDS in Ct. after losing 50k last year is using a system to play more even. Max bet your brains out and good luck to you I hope you can beat the pay tables. As for me with the comps I get and playing till a good hit at max bet comes I stick to the system.

Notes,
I didn't take offense from what was said. My response was more to show why I think I have a positive attitude about life in general. I also truly believe a positive attitude impacts my play or at least my enjoyment of playing.
Those of us who seriously play VP know the losing hands far out weight winning hands. If you play enough hands the winners will come. I just hope the winning hand's bank roll holds out long enough for the winning hands to hit again. Besides, usually when one of us is losing the other seems to be hitting. We both laugh about that phenomenon all the time. Its when we both are losing that it really sucks.
I know several serious players who are very content to play 100 @ 1 to play more hands and take the big hits when they come.
Casinos don't have to worry about the one credit people, there are enough players who don't know how to correctly play the games that the 1% house edge on a 99% game becomes a 8-10-15% house edge.

The Cheap Strategy works, but it's not for everybody. The reason for this is simple. Players want to win jackpots and the bigger the better. What fun is it to play single coin and dread hitting a royal for 250 coins instead of 4000? I understand this. What players don't want to consider is how much it's costing them to win those jackpots. Also, we have been sold hard that the only way we can win playing video poker is to use professional strategies. These strategies are unrealistic for 99% of players, but we follow them like they came down on stone tablets. Frankly, I don't care how someone plays video poker with their own money. The Cheap Strategy is easy to learn and if you stick to it will significantly cut down your cost to play and there is a good chance you will grow your bankroll over time.

I play the Strategy on the 20 coin .05/.25 machines most of the time, 4 of my 6 royals came in on the 5 coin bet so was payed $200 vs. $62.50. To me its a no brainer, if you can find 20 coin machines and play the 5 nickel to 20 nickel bet it's the only way to play. Then after count is above $25 change to 5 quarter bet. So a royal becomes $1000 vs $250 at min. bet. The nickel pay tables are less then the quarters but not giving up $137.50 is worth it to me.
