Re: trip to cherokee
glad to hear you also did not donate. have you also seen your free play offers go down?
Free play offers have gone back down to "normal" levels for June (i.e. about what they were last summer). My wife and I both got some relatively high offers that were 3-5X the "normal" during January to April, but were only able to use about 30-40% of the cash offered (its a 6-7 hour drive for us to get there). Still, it was nice to get the extra bucks they tossed our way, so we'll keep going there every 4-8 weeks. We'll look forward to trying out the new place in Murphy later this year, too.

notes,
Congratulations on the "great roll" and hits. Too many times to count the good times have gone bad and the bad times have become great. Keep up the reports.

got back from a one night trip to cherokee. used my $100 diamond dinner at ruth chris, to celebrate wife's birthday. she's happy to eat at a nice place, stay in a nice place and i get to play VP. works for me! had 5 quad dueces (one on tdb for $500), which is unusual and 4awk on ddb for $500. ended up a little over $200 for the trip. had an interesting event. went to a new machine, started playing and dealt a pair of fives and garbage. saved the fives and drew the other two fives. nothing big, but quads are always nice. looked down and saw that one of the fives i had intended to save, did not register due to one of the many sticky/malfunctioning buttons at cherokee. i was PO'D at myself and the machine. continued to play and thought, i am going to contact tech and see what they might do. got a tech, was nice, but said he needed to contact supervisor, and one did arrive. i told the story, he checked the previous hand history, noted that hand in question, i had only saved a single 5, which made no sense. i told him i would accept whatever they decided and i moved to another machine to play. he made a couple of calls, left for a bit and sure enough, came back and handed me $62.50. both were well aware of the many machine problems. i was both surprised and impressed. they did the right thing and i told them i was grateful. i will be writing a note to cherokee and mentioning both their names, in hopes they get credit for a satisfied customer. would it have been so easy if $500 or a grand was in question, i do not know.
My husband and I went to Cherokee over the Memorial Day weekend (we go
about once a month as it is only a 2 hour drive). We both did really
well. I play $5-$25 machines depending on my mood and bankroll. In two
days, I hit awak 3 times for 20k each and twice w/o kicker for 8k each.
Also hit babies w/k for 8k a few times, as well as the assorted 4oaks.
I split my jackpots between checks and cash, so I would not be tempted
to put it all back. Ended up bringing home $105k.
Yikes! Still trying to get my head around this..... You must need a U-Haul to carry all your W2Gs home with you.

Glad to see they covered you on that button gaffe. Definitely doesn't hurt to ask. Worst thing they can say is "no". Games with sticky buttons make me play really slow. Were these older game kings? I thought CET pushed most of those out the door. But even the newer game kings have some crappy buttons. I feel like it's an inferior machine build vs. older units. After a year or two, I'm noticing they aren't perfect at times.

Glad to see they did the right thing Notes. As far as buttons are concerned, we routinely see people pounding buttons, etc. No wonder they stick, break, etc. regardless of the age of the machine. What bugs me is when a casino does not repair the bad buttons within a reasonable amount of time.

i do plenty of complaining about the casinos, so i think it only fair to point out when they exceed expectations. vman, not sure if they are new or old, but they have had the same machines for at least 8 years. otabill, you are correct, some folks really pound on them. i just think that VP is not a high priority for casinos, they want slot players.

Those are "old" to me. Most CET properties have replaced nearly all their VP machines in the last 18 months to my knowledge. Maybe Cherokee is an exception?

would agree with you, the machines appear much older than some properties i go to. but, i like that these at least pay out at times. to the best of my knowledge, cherokee is owned by the tribe and only uses CET for management purposes. the tribe runs the place and CET provides the expertise and connections to a national casino chain. i am sure CET would love to get their hands on the profits, but those monies go to tribal members. no free booze, free slot play is more generous than CET AC properties and employees are very nice. they just completed their latest expansion about a year ago, cost $700 million, that is for an expansion! currently in the midst of completing another smaller property about an hour away, to make it easier to draw from atlanta.

CET apparently has a similar managerial contract with the AK-Chin community outside Phoenix. Not sure of the details including length of the contract and whether it covers the hotel and the entertainment venue or just the casino.
