I had to wait a guy out who was playing in the middle seat. Now that
there are only 3 machines if someone is playing the nickel denom in the
middle you're going to be sitting next to them. I knew that wasn't going
to work for me, so i kept circling until he finally gave up.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Perfect strategy. You played that bad hand like a pro. I hate sitting next to people and try to avoid whenever possible. My casino has the three machine set up too, on each side of a small bank. At your off peak time, hell you should be able to play in peace. Plus you wound up delaying the RNG just long enough for you to cash in! $7,600 in five hands on one screen. That is an incredible sight.
But the way I read the post's tone, he's mostly trying to avoid the person because he/she was playing nickels. If they were playing Quarters+ would he still have cared? Or at least as much? I'm assuming he may have wanted to avoid seeing a nickel player possibly get happy over a $100+ win? I know I cherish my nickel STP wins over $100, it's been over two years now I think!
Personally I would rather play next to someone unless there was a reason they bugged me, mostly smoking in that regard, or if I'm moving machines frequently. Damn casino chairs are usually gigantic.[/QUOTE]
Had to chuckle at that one. Not in the least. I mentioned nickels because that machine has that denomination it tends to get more play.
Truth be known I mostly like to play all by myself which is one of the main reasons I like to go on Sunday nights. Unlike one of the other posts mentioning huge seats, Harrah's seems like they squeeze you together. Even know this row (was 5 machines, now 3) is firmly in the smoking section of the casino it tends to draw a lot of complainers. Waving hands, fake coughing. There are probably 10+ STP machines in the non-smoking area and some folks have to bring their theatrics right next to me.
When I'm squished in next to a bunch of people I tend to play like I'm sitting in the middle row on an airplane. That's no fun for me. So, nickels, or dollars, I'd rather have a little space to myself. Funny thing is, once that guy left the middle machine at about midnight I never saw another person play that row the entire night. Every time I returned my cash-out numbers were still there. Just how I like it. Crickets.
But I have to ask. Why did my post evoke this conversation as to whether I didn't like nickel players? That seems a little strange to me. A little phobic kind of. Like what I see on the news. Hell. I play a ton of nickels. No one considered that the denom might make the machine played more? Guess I wasn't PC enough. Sorry.

roveer,
Playing nickels is often our major play. Many of my biggest hits have been dealt hands on 5¢ multi-hand. I too should have walked away more than once or cashed out a ticket and put it back but it's often a difficult process. Congratulations again on your hits.

You mentioned he was playing nickels, and I wasn't sure that was a reason why you avoided playing next to him. I figured an end seat was a desirable seat, so I was confused. I could see that possibly some (definitely not all) bigger players may rather avoid playing next to someone playing nickels.
Now I see that you would rather be without a neighbor on either side, which unfortunately will be tough with just a row of 3. Sorry I misunderstood your initial intent.

No problem, were all good. Actually the nickel players tend to be nicer overall. I've made the joke before that I seem to get along really well with the older ladies. But having my choice, I like to be all alone in a building filled with people.

Like someone sitting w you on an empty subway, park bench or other public area. People generally prefer extensive personal space. Great minds think alike! The more alone while playing the better. Crickets, baby! At peak times casino's likely in financial distress. If I want solitude I must forefeit full pay, so forget it. Where can I buy blinders? The racehorse concept is perfect. Great that you can do a non peak visit.
