Re: It's Lonely At The Top
Nice to hear from you, Mickey. Used to post here long ago. Often don't bother to read others posts any more given the changed climate. Just happen to be on vacation for a day and caught your act. I learned a lot about older games from your posts on various forums. Amused with your observations about reactions to Dancer. You don't see too many posts here about APers complaining about Bob like other places. I wonder why that is?? <<tongue firmly in cheek>>

<<one of his arrogant "tirades" or festivals of
self aggrandizement>>Amusing choice of terms. There wouldn't be as much irony in criticizing these traits in others unless they were uttered by someone self-described as Ivy League-educated, with genius status at chess, bridge, hold 'em poker or whatever other self-compliments that are too numerous to recall and extraneous to posting at a video poker site.Have fun with your imagination and continual criticism of others. Maybe you can figure out a way to blame Tedlark for my post!

Pardon a newcomers ignorance, but what is wov?
I assume you are the same Mickey Crimm who perfected diamond mining back in day? That worked well for me on an occasion or two.

I know a lot of peeps consider Bob the "Led Zeppelin" of VP, however, that does not keep my right hand from coming down with the force of John Bonham on the draw button when dealt 4 to the royal. "Hammer of the Gods", if you will!

Why would the 'knowledgeable' posters give up posting?
For the same reason Bob took a break here. More and more noise vs. less and less signal at WoV. The top poster in terms of quantity at WoV has given no useful gambling advice ever that I have seen. Mostly he is just a sarcastic, negative old fart. He hardly ever talks about gambling at all.
Now I will admit, Bob is quite rigid in his posts here. I feel like would come off as overly frustrated if he wasn't agreed with or his advice wasn't taken. As the saying goes, "You can lead a horse to water, but can't make him drink."

This pisses people off and he creates another enemy. Sooner or later he has so many enemies his good advice gets drowned out by the counter attacks.I read everything he writes and take most of his advice. It has helped me to be a better player and I am grateful. I understand his frustration, but it is of his own doing. My wish is he will take some time off and adjust his mental attitude. I believe he would be more successful as a mentor and an author if he worked this out on his own.

dancer may deny it, but he took a break because he challenged the forum to a popularity election between him and FP. he wanted to eliminate opinions that were different than his and free speech won out, in his calculation. I am also guessing he felt the forum would crumble without his expertise and insight.
cannot comment on wov site, as I have never read anything or posted anything. it just seems to me that if there were enough demand for conversations about the subjects that knowledgeable players seek, it would overwhelm and run off those who seek a different conversation. maybe, you over estimate those knowledgeable players who believe the machines can be beat and actually do it.
