Re: Final Words

Thanks Larry.  I'm still a Gold Member.  There are many forum members that I enjoyed conversing with and you were one of them.   I see no future in posting anything related to VP strategy on this forum.  I enjoy VP, but I do not enjoy being the center of controversy.   Obviously there are some members who do not appreciate my posts and the stories I shared, so I will be happy to oblige them with my absence.  I think the forum would be better off if I kept my opinions to myself.  Since I've been on hiatus I have read with interest the posts knocking investing in the stock market.   This is something that I do have great experience with.  Profiting from the stock market has strategy involved just like VP.   Stock market APs don't buy stocks and keep them all forever.  Markets change and yesterday's Sears Roebuck becomes the new Apple or Google.  The best way for a young person to invest in the stock market is to buy  a low cost index fund.  If someone in their twenties invested regularly in one of these funds, the power of compounding would make them all millionaires by the time they were my age.  Still, our forum has some people who think VP is a better road to riches than investing.  Is it any wonder the top 1% of people in this country have accumulated all the money?  I shall remain on the sidelines and not comment on any VP strategy issues.  If something comes up where I do have expertise I'll add my 2 cents worth.  I'll be around silently as long as they keep cashing my monthly Gold Member checks.

"The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." There is nothing to fear from my posts.  I will not be commenting on any VP strategy and will never mention anyone by name. I will be reading your posts with interest.  My subscription to the comedy channel has expired.

Regarding Phil's comment on how the markets change. Absolutely. Nothing worse than to be in a conversation with someone and discover that he/she hasn't touched their 401k fund selections in years. These need to be adjusted regularly, as frequently as quarterly, and at the very worst, annually.

[/quote]In September of 1982 the Dow Jones average was 2,200.  Today it is hovering near 20,000.  Along the way some of the largest most successful American companies failed or are shadows of their former selves.  Investing has created more millionaires than any other financial endeavor.  The nice guy next door to you driving that Honda Civic may in fact be quite wealthy.  These people didn't get that way from jumping in and out of stocks they heard about at the local bar.  They invested regularly in a well diversified portfolio of best in class companies, reinvested their profits and re-balanced their investments on a regular basis.  They lived frugal lives and didn't run down to the casino every time they made a few extra bucks.   Ten years from now the stock market will be higher than it is now.  Twenty years from now it will be higher than that.  Where will you be? What does any of this have to do with video poker?  If you're already wealthy, nothing.  If you want to be, everything.

A suggestion...Either move this thread to the 'Chit Chat' section...Or just lock it down, because it has nothing to do with Video Poker Strategy
