I've pretty much stopped reading the burgers rants, but let me assure him that bars do not keep $200,000 on hand to cover such payouts. In this case, the bartender called someone and after about a half hour two armed guards arrived.
Traditional three reel slots still exists in Nevada. Was playing some coin droppers just last week.
Ok well you failed to mention that part about armed guards showing up with payment withing a short period.... I don't know for certain but that probably meets the requirements for casinos being able to cover their potential obligations. Half an hour isn't bad compared to some long waits people have in larger casinos waiting for much smaller hand pays!
Where exactly were you playing these three reel coin droppers?

El Cortez. By the pizza joint.
From talking to various bartenders and route people, it appears if the bar doesn't own it's own machines, the route operator is responsible for payouts.
Suppose you are playing 9-6 JOB and you get $10 cash per $1000 played.
Or the casino is offering double or triple points one day?
The progressive is high?
If a casino is giving $3 per thousand dollars played and a free buffet on a 9-6 JOB for 500 points, is the game negative?
The games pay table should be only one factor in determining if a game is playable.
yes fAA 9 6 jacks o b variance of19.51 is higher than pick em 15 var but jacks o b still feels less volatile to me!still they call jacks o b quicksand because of its slow death but can still be plus e v with c back promos ect.
Very, very common in Nevada for large jackpots to be hit in small venues, such as bars, gas stations, convenience stores, etc, and for the place to call the company that owns or services the machines for the payout. Very common. Can be very fast or can take a while, depending on time of day and how many other large jackpots have been hit on other machines the company is responsible for. If you are waiting to get $100K, most people aren't going to get upset because of a delay as long as they are assured of payment. To answer DB's concern: the regs do not require enough $$$ on hand to meet any possible jackpot. The regs do require that the owner and or operator of the machine has access to enough $$$ to meet any possible jackpot.

Experienced players bring a book along, for this very reason.
It seems like a pretty hazardous job, walking into a bar or 7-11 with huge sums of cash. Especially when you are expected.
