Re: MARKETS,Anybody even yet?
Bax was a good trading vehicle over the last 2 years in 5-10 point swings. Not sure what’s going on with it now, but it doesn’t look good. I did the same trading with PRU. Chart looking bad on that too now. Just curious, is anyone up more than a couple of points overall YTD? Not even sure what my next game plan will be at this point. Even hit and run can be risky with the incorrect timing. Guess I will mostly stay with cash and divs and a sprinkling of hit and run trades. Cash still gets me 4 percent for now. Unfortunately all taxable both Fed and state.
I may even have to jump back in on FHIGX. 3 percent Fed Tax Free. Probably not worth the risk. Fidelity yield after paying the 22 percent Fed tax is still 3.12.

The div cut was my motivation for plunging into DOW. Some investors are very dividend-focused, and some institutions have dividend mandates. A cut can trigger a stampede, which may trigger bargain pricing imo.
I follow the gold miners closely. Many of them are luxuriating in cash flow, and in general they're opting more for buybacks than dividends. In a cyclical industry, it's hard to maintain a steadily upward dividend trajectory -- and therefore it may be better not to try.

My confetti is + double-digit %. Too many complications to calculate it exactly. Among larger holdings, my only pathetic losers ytd are BAK (Braskem) and MSOS. Everything else is robusto.olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Sat Aug 02, 2025 11:44 amJust curious, is anyone up more than a couple of points overall YTD?
I haven't extracted my first penny. Initiated 2.5 years ago at 44, and I've done nothing but accumulate into the downtrend.Bax was a good trading vehicle over the last 2 years in 5-10 point swings.
It's 63 cents off the low

Good job. Need to focus more on short term trading. Always been my strongest suit. I just let it lapse till a couple of months ago.

Really? No reason whatsoever. Why not just throw darts blindfolded?olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 5:10 pmLook out below tomorrow!! Just a hunch. No hints why.

Not a lot of "below" this morning actually, but I am stacking the chemicals. New positions in HUN and LYB, and continuing to stack DOW.

Guess so far I was only accurate as to Berkshire!
. No buybacks again. Huge write down on Kraft Heinz.

Berkshire has never been much on my radar, but this seems very historically abnormal. I don't want to own Berkshire itself, but I think their philosophy is generally sound. I'm looking at KHC for purchase, but it just traded below 26 last month so I'd like to see it a little lower from here.
