Re: Strategy of using free play
Doubling up should not affect the EV. Half the time you'll double the payout, but you reduce the payout to zero the other half.

But it increases the variance, meaning you need a bigger bankroll to play.

I was just thinking....If the double up feature taken by itself is a 100 percent game with no house edge, and the 9/6 job game is 99.54 player return, somehow averaging the 2 separate games should have a return higher than 99.54. I’m probably wrong

For instance, if your wife was sitting next you and everytime the double up feature came up, she gave you in cash the amount you were risking on the double up feature and if she won you paid her, her long term expected return on her gambling would be 100 percent. Yours would be 99.54. The two averaged together however, should be in between?

Your return with doubling up is 99.54%. Example: You made many plays and played $10000 through the machine and got a $9954 return. You doubled up on your $9954 wins throughout your plays and got 100% return of $9954. Your total return is still 99.54%.

The EV of the game is 99.544%olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 11:11 pmI wonder what the EV of 9/6 JOB is if one uses the double up feature once every time there is at least a push hand.
The double up feature does not affect EV.

if only the double up feature would give points for cash back, that would be quite interesting 1

Play it all when you first sit down at the machine. The hands will hit more often thereafter.

By trying to dissect how you play free play, you are focusing on something that is largely irrelevant.
Trying to win involves looking at pay schedules, slot clubs, promotions, mailers, and the like. Your free play (likely a very small percentage of your coin-in) is a very small part of that.
