The speed should not affect the RNG, but I do know someone who plays at varying speeds because he has seen the same thing you are talking about. Rather than adjust the speed of the game, he will just count 15 seconds between hands when he is trying to decrease his speed. As I said, there shouldn't be a long term effect, but....it's gambling, so who knows?

mike I only play at the slowest speed. I  like to be able to see the draw cards one at a time! I do however switch from pushng max bet to pushing the 6 coins for  button. I find I get the multiplier more often when I switch back and forth. My husband is always saying- boy u get that multiplier a lot! Doesnt mean I get a good hand tho!!!!! I played VP at Showboat once around 4 years ago and did terrible! So Ive always been adverse to playing there. We sometimes go over to Resorts if we are having a losing day and Ive done well there. However I may have to try Showboats  STP! 10 machines is better than 6 at Taj! I wish they would put more in as I hate staying at a cold machine and sometimes they are all taken there.

rascal,

That's not a bad idea.  At least by delaying a little bit, it will slow the game down a bit.  I'm glad I'm not the only one that experienced something like this.  Like you said, it shouldn't affect the RNG.. but man it sure does seem that way! LOL

Boopsahoy,

I do the same thing with the switching back and forth between hitting "bet max" and "play 6 coins."  Of course, I'm always switching how many hands I am playing at one time, though...

As for the Showboat STP's, they are in a few locations.  I know there are some in the main VP section in the middle of the casino (8 I think..) and there are a few that are around the house of blues section.

Taj does have a few more STP's near the $1 Gamemakers close to the poker room, but they are $1 denomination only..   I haven't been brave enough for those as of yet.  The only thing I hate about the 6 STP machines is where they are located.  It's always pretty congested around that area, especially since they put the Wheel of Fortune Big Wheel right around it..

Do you switch machines, or do you stay at pretty much the same one?  I usually play the 3rd one in from the left side (as you're facing the boardwalk exit and the Hard Rock Cafe..)  Only reason being it is the loudest STP machine there.. LOL  I like to be able to hear my winners, and darn it, I want my winners to be heard by all.. LOL

$1 denomination is way over my head! Not only is it very congested there the WOF machine is very very loud! Ive played at all the machines. I like to stay at one for a while but I will move if there is an open machine and mine seems to have cooled down. The only machine I dont play (unless there are no others!) is the first one on the side you mentionned as it doesnt have DW!!! I also like to hear my winners LOL. Do yu ever play the multistrike game? I had great luck on it once while waiting for an STP machine to open up. Got Aces (no kicker) on the second line and Deuces (no kicker) on the 2nd line. Now that is a real volatile game! Also the strategy is different since u want to move up the levels. Leaving tomorrow for my cruise so have a great week!

Barb,

Yes, that WOF machine is VERY loud.  Sometimes I get a headache after a session of STP.  People get sooooooooo excited on that game, too.  You would think they have won the progressive the way they scream! LOL  I looked over one day and this lady was screaming loudly and got out of her chair and was jumping.  She had hit for 500 or so coins on the bonus.. what is that thing.. nickels??  Sheesh.. LOL

As for the multistrike game, I play that one ONLY if all the STP's are taken and I am waiting for one to open up.  I have very bad luck on that game.  Money sure does go quick on that game if you don't get up past the few levels..  Saw a lady a few weeks ago get aces with the kicker on the top line for $4000.. not a bad hit!  That day I had a pretty rotten session on STP too, so it stung even more seeing that hit right next to me.. LOL

Hope your cruise went well and that you have a winning story to tell!
I haven't been to Taj in over a week, and don't plan on going until February ( I usually go about 3 times per week.)  I had that incredible several weeks and I want to make sure I don't give it all back to the Taj..

Hey Mike-Back from the cruise. They didnt have STP. they had regular 3-5-10 play and they had 1 spin poker machine. They paytables were terrible. On the .25 DDB they paid 30 for a fullhouse! 30!!!! 50 was 35 and dollars  were 40. We started out with dollar and did real well the first day-some deuces and 4's 4OAKs..but then gave most back. We did pretty good on the Triple pPlay but then that died too as there was only 2 machines. We played some .25 also and did ok not great. All-in-all we lost our stake plus a little more. We got $189 cashback  (they deduct from your cruise bill) and remember we only paid $940  for 2 people in a balcony room with casino rates. Oh we also played a little Let It Ride-horrible!!!!! Cant wait to hit the TAJ this Saturday! Yes be smart and dont give it all back right away!

I always post when I win so it's only fair that I post when I lose.  Went down to AC last weekend and did OK on Friday, was way down until I was dealt 4 4's on a 25c DDB machine(at Showboat)-got the deuce for $200 and made it only a small loss for the day.  Saturday morning/early aft at Borgata I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn-even the horses were letting me down.  Made the fatal mistake of going back to Showboat Sat. nite and lost basically my whole bankroll for the weekend plus.  This should be a good lesson for all my friends on this site-get while the getting is good. That's why they call it gambling.  Glad you enjoyed your cruise Boops-sorry about the bad paytables.  At least you got away for a while.

Barb,

Sounds like you had fun on the cruise, despite not doing so well with the games.. LOL@ 30 for a full house... WOW, that is pretty bad!!  No.. VERY bad! LOL
Best of luck to you this Saturday at the Taj!  I'm still sticking to my guns and will not be going for awhile.  Taj is giving me all kinds of comps and offers now though.. they are itching to get that money back.. LOL
Oh, one more thing.. have you ever visited Tropicana?  My fiance and I go there sometimes too, and we went there last week to eat dinner and go to the shops.  We did play a little ($50 a piece) just to pass some time and I ended up finding a nickle STP machine (2 of them in fact.)  I had never seen them in that denomination at the Taj, so I was pretty psyched!  I could actually play 10-play without almost having a heart-attack.  I actually did pretty well, too!  I hit 4 aces with a 3 on DDB, then a little bit later it actually dealt me a full house on 10-play with an 8x multiplier! Woo hoo!  All-in-all, ended up ahead about $200 (and of course all I could think about is "Why couldn't I have been playing quarters! LOL)
By the way, those nickle STP machines at Trop have the same paytables as the quarter ones at Taj!    If you've never seen where they are, I'll try to explain how to get to them.  From the main casino floor (where the palm trees are) they are between the Ten-Times-Pay machines where you can win the Corvette and Tango's Lounge (where the new table game pit is.)  They are mixed in with some Five-Play Multi-Strike machines.    Unfortunately, there are only 2 of them..
