Phil Rizzuto, "Here comes Sparky in the Datsun". Bill White his announcing partner, "It's a Toyota Phil, they're one of our sponsors". Phil- Holy Cow, you're right White, what was I thinking? Great stuff from PhilYES!!!!   I grew up in the 1970s and 1980s listening to Yankee games on the radio, and watching them on WPIX TV with Phil announcing ....he was a classic!    He would regularly get all confused and have to have Bill White or Frank Messer bail him out......also, during the 1984 Season and again in 1987  BILLY Martin joined him in the booth!   Those were the best telecasts......Phil was all about being relaxed and not taking anything except Italian Food or Players seriously!     But he would routinely make mistakes, mispronounce players names, lose track of the game etc.   He was the opposite of someone like Vin Scully, who is the best announcer ever in terms of professionalism and eloquence. But I miss the SCOOTER !!!

Yes, glad someone remembers . Here's another Rizzuto classic. Willie Randolph on second against the Indians forget what year , who is at bat but rember this, after a base hit to center Rizzuto " look out Manning has a great arm" Bill White "no he doesn't " Rizzuto "Holy cow White you're right that was an awful throw. Rick Manning was the center fielder for the Indians .

Do you remember Fran Healy?   He was backup catcher for the 1976-77 yankees behind Munson, then in 1978 he retired and joined the radio team fro 4 years....he was great next to Rizzuto, always correcting the scooters many mistakes in a funny fashion. Here's one I remember:1978, the year of Ron Guidry's unbelievable 25-3 record.....in a game against the Angels Guidry struck out 18.....in the 7th inning when Guidry was up to 15, he is pitching to Angels Shortstop Doug Decinces, with a count of 1-2:Scooter:  "All right, here's the 1-2 pitch.....STRUCK HIM OUT!!!!  HOLY COW I DONT BELIEVE IT!  GUIDRY is on the money tonight, that's 13 strikeouts for him so far.....No wait a second......Hey healy, how many is that now?   Wait, where'd Healy go?   Let me see, that's 15 strikeouts for....wait, No its gotta be more than that......Where's Healy?    Oh ok  16....SIXTEEN!  That's sixteen strikeouts for Healy......how about that!"   Bear in mind this is on the air on radio

Sure I remember Fran Healy. Phil had a habit of leaving the game in the 7th inning to beat the traffic back over the GWB to NJ. OK, This is a VP forum so I'm done with this.

Ted,
I love playing Dream Card but its not an option anywhere around here and when it was it was 25¢ minimum denomination. The machines lasted maybe six months before being removed for lack of play. Asked for them to lower the denominations but no way did that happen.

I enjoy playing it too Double L and if I had to choose between Dreamcard, Ultimate X, and Multi Strike, I'd choose Dreamcard every time.
