Re: Las Vegas August 20 - 24, 2015
My reply was not in response to your comment, notes1, it was in response to a comment made by daburglar. I have seen him question the validity of wins on more than one occasion and my response was an attempt to explain how we know if we REALLY win or not. Certainly wasn't mean-spirited or directed at you.Pffft yet another forum visitor with questionable reading ability and selective reading interpretation skills (IF his questionable reading skills allow him to read in the first place....)"You have seen me question the validity of wins on more than one occasion...." Yes, and you realize that in fact it is ONLY Ted's past "wins" at the various midwestern casinos that are apparently all within several hours driving distance.......ONLY Ted, no one else's wins have been doubted or questioned, and the reason is simple: Ted claims he wins 80% of the time (or 4 out of 5 "Trips" or "sessions", depending on whatever defining terminology-du-jour he feels like using...) And here, I do not necessarily "question or doubt" every single stinkin' picture or single win he posts or claims, I simply find his 80% success rate unbelievable.Furthermore, as I clearly have stated now several times in THIS particular thread about Vegas, I actually do find THESE particular wins/pictures totally believable because, in fact, it is VEGAS, and I have seen many people, even me, have trips and success just like what he reports here......nothing odd or out of whack with that.......

DaBurglar by questioning the validity of ANY of my successes you are in fact questioning the validity of ALL of my successes. I think Lord Katsumoto said something along those lines in the movie: "The Last Samurai."

Car, you and Phil have the winning plan. And the roll to back it up. Many can talk the talk, but walking the walk is another matter. I can only muster a 50% max bet attack. Hope I don't get singed again. I fear I may toss myself into the Atlantic after lifeguard hours.

Awesome trip report of your time in Vegas Ted! Four days is a lot of action! Great pictures from your room at The Rio and the VP hits. Most people do not have the stomach to endure the kind of swings you went through playing multi-hand high variance games like 10-play DDB or TDB with the Dreamcard gimmick. Must feel good that the trip was profitable at the end and you did not lose your phone. Having as many made hands with or without Dreamcard is definitely memorable.
Because it was late Thursday night when I checked in I decided to just stay and play at Rio. I sat down to a familiar bank of 3/5/10 play machines and began banging away. I was disappointed that I didn't hit AWAK or a royal but I did manage to hit 2/'s/3's/4's 4 times, each with a kicker. These came in pretty rapid progression and I didn't take any pictures of those hits. I ended my play about 3:30 am with more money in my pocket than I started out with.
I was wondering if you were referring to the $1 3/5/10 play machines next to the WSOP Poker Plaza at The Rio that has a sticker requiring $50 coin in per tier credit, it has 40/10/6 DDB on it. I know a "big" bankroll is needed to play that, some of the locals play that machine exclusively, I saw that they stuff in $10,000 in $100 bills in two seperate machines before playing.
I started with Rio Carnival World buffet breakfast on Saturday and decided to go back to the Dream Card machine I was playing the day before at M. About 30 minutes into my session up popped:
Was wondering about the comps you've consumed during the trip.
The Carnival Buffet at the Rio (I know the Seafood Buffet is the other one of the two) must be that good? I do not play at Total Rewards anymore to get anything comped from them, and the Reward Credits accrue at 0.10% for most of the video poker games. The Studio B buffet at the M Resort is very good in its own right. They run a daily promotion for a free daily buffet admission with play on the Marquee Rewards card, tops is $2000 coin in for the Seafood Buffet valued at $40 a person. The M Resort is one of the ideal casinos for the foodies (I am not). I did not see much of a good selection of VP games at the Rio so I was surprised you gave them some play (a handful of the games are the best that Caesars Entertainment offers in Vegas strip).
The rooms at the Rio are very spacious and has my favorite Burger King next to it, but I like the quality of life overall at the M Resort. Perhaps on your next possible trip to Vegas you would stay at the M Resort? I recall that you play at the Hollywood casinos which is part of Marquee Rewards. I do not play nearly as much as others here, so I am sticking to a few places to earn higher club memberships.

Thanks for the kind words alpax. You are right about the 3/5/10 play machines at Rio; they're pretty much right in the middle between the Carnival World Buffet and The All American Grille. I've had quite a bit of luck on that bank over the years and its the same bank that I was dealt 4A444 while playing 10 play TDB about 4 years ago. Two years ago I hit two royals within an hour of each other on that bank. I've had several AWAK too; been a good set of machines for me over the years.
I like staying at Rio because of the quality of the rooms and also that they are a bit off the Strip.
I really was sweating the phones until I found them right where Ileft them. One is a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the other is a Samsung android as well, just a little smaller than my Note 3.
Because The M is tied into Marquee Rewards I knew that I would be accruing tier points on my Penn National Gaming card. I would like to stay at The M and they are allready emailing me rooms.
The average points cost for Carnival World Buffet is about 30 bucks so I burned through about 18,000 reward credits but I earned alot of those back with my play.
Good luck to you.

Why is it so hard for you to believe ,DaBurglar, that TedLark can have winning sessions/trips 80% of the time on VP? Using good Money Management, stopping a session when you are ahead is certainly doable, if you have the discipline.

Why is it so hard for you to believe ,DaBurglar, that TedLark can have winning sessions/trips 80% of the time on VP? Using good Money Management, stopping a session when you are ahead is certainly doable, if you have the discipline. Sure, we can come up with all kinds of exceptional scenarios to the rules of general thumb about casino gambling and typical "Sessions", and how they go.....but if you have paid attention to what Ted outlines and says (and posts with his pics) it is clear he is not doing anything exceptional (like quitting automatically when he gets up....if fact, several times he has outlined a scenario where he was going bust and on his way out the door and then, VOILA! BOOM! he hits that magical whopper which puts him back on the plus side....which, again, in and of itself is not a problem or issue but it becomes one if you claim you are profitable 80%, or more, of the time! and by profitable, in this case we mean at least several hundred dollars or more........Sure, if I wanted to be happy with 40 or 50 bucks profit for my "session", I could indeed "QUIT while ahead" with many of my video poker "sessions", but that most likely would mean stopping after 20-30 minutes into a plan or allotted 2-3 hours session, or longer! )I always quit when I am ahead, IF in fact I ever get to the point where I am AHEAD! "Quitting while ahead" is a superfluous, almost meaningless term or concept, because quite literally, anyone who churns a profit after a VP session is in fact, "QUITTING while they are ahead"......where most folks blow it is they fail to either set a limit in terns of $$ or TIME when they engage in a VP session, or they fail to adhere to the limits they set. MPD001, I have no problem if you want to accept someone's (not just Ted, ANYBODY's) claim they are pulling a 80% success clip when EVERYONE else (even Bob Dancer) are nowhere near that level of success......If someone wants to extend the definition of "PROFIT" all the way out to include any and every single item or dollar that accrue via COMPS and players clubs and giveaways, and all that, I can see them coming out "ahead" quite often, but even in this scenario 80% is outrageous.Let's put it another way, if a player wins 80% or more of the time while wagering the amount and frequency of coin-in that Tedlark seems to be wagering at the casinos he is frequenting, unless that player is avoiding being tracked by NOT utilizing his player card, the casino(s) eventually are going to catch up to him and penalize him. In today's market you can count on this.......
