Since my yearly budget of $2000 was near I took the last two months off just playing off free play and cutting down my loss for the year. The yearly total does include a KENO hit of $1750.00 on a quarter bet, with out that hit my yearly loss in Video poker is $3015.00. Thank you KENO!  It was a lucky hit. If you missed the story here is the link. http://forum.videopoker.com/forum/forum ... TID=8543It was nice to take the time off from hammering away for hours on end. So for 2017 raising  my budget to $3000.00 and looking to better the last two years losses of $1,200.00 each year. Got off to a good start Jan. one with a nice $800 royal and another winning trip today. My play is 9/6 JOB betting five .20 coins ($1.00) then on a 3 of a kind max betting ten coins ($2.00) till I lose then back to 5 coins. Good luck to all in the New Year!

Very nice account. I know these things take a lot of work to put together - thank you for your effort.

Good details

Nice hit to start 2017! WTG! I've never seen a 20 cent denomination before. I have seen 1, 2, 5, 10, and 25, but not 20 cents.

Thanks gang, only 7 royals last year looking for one a month like other years. Al these are older machines have 5,10,20 25 cent with the lower 2 amounts at 20 coin while upper 2 only 10 coin max. Not sure why 20 cents but works well with my system and an amount of bet I am playing.

Spurred on by Wildman's report, I have completed wading through all my 2016 results, and now can report on them with a reasonable degree of certainty that I'm not too far off the mark.

Over the year, I played 5c, 10c, 25c, 50c and $1 denominations of video poker. I played at Harrah's and Aquarius in Laughlin, the M, South Point, Tropicana, Westgate, Main Street Station, Gold Coast, the Cromwell and the Rio in Las Vegas, and, closer to home, Seneca Niagara and Allegheny and Casino Rama.

My total coin-in for the year was just under $1.1 million, which produced about 1.33 million hands of VP. I had a total of 38 royal flushes (about one per 35000 hands). Nevertheless, I was down about $3700 at the machines themselves. Cashback and MSS scratch cards totalled about $1100, reducing the net loss to $2600. Overall, the return was a touch under 99.8%.

At the 5c level, I played exclusively 50 line. Coin-in was $229000, producing 916000 hands, and 20 royals (one per 45800 hands). I was down $3900 at nickels.

At 10c, I played mostly 20 line, with a wee bit of 100 line thrown in. I didn't play much at this denomination at all, total coin-in being 13900. This produced 27800 hands, and, quite remarkably, 5 royal flushes (one per 5560 hands). I was up $1635 at dimes.

At quarters, I played both single and multiline (3,5 or 10 play). The majority was multiline. Total coin-in was $321000, producing 256800 total hands, and 10 royals. At quarters, I was up $2290.

My 50c play was exclusively five line. Coin-in was $313600, producing 125400 total hands, and only 2 royals (one per 62700 hands). I was down $700 at this denomination.

At dollars, I played mostly triple line, but with some single line play. Coin-in was $210600, producing 42120 hands and one royal. At dollars, I was down $3000.

What did I get for my $2600? Hours and hours of entertainment, three trips from Buffalo to Laughlin, and two from Buffalo to Las Vegas, about 60 nights of accommodation, and lots of food. Was it worth it? Unquestionably, the answer is yes.

Phil has noted in some of his posts that some people prefer other forms of entertainment, such as cruises. This past September, my wife and I took a two week cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam on the Danube, Main and Rhine Rivers. It was fabulous, but it did cost around $18000 Canadian. If I lost that much in two weeks of playing video poker, I would probably give it up.

A damn good report OMT. Very impressed with your comprehensive record keeping. $2600 is a really good deal for what you got. Thanks for sharing!

I just rely on my casino's win loss record since I do not play nearly as much. Hope you've retained 7Stars at the Total Reward Caesars properties, you will be entitled to a 3 or 4 day cruise.

Wow that took some work to track all your play nice report. I just use my phone calendar. Enter what I won or lost for the trip and track all my free play played off. Take a lot of pictures as well. Its simple and I think most players should track there gains and losses to stay in the game for the long haul. I agree that playing VP is much fun for the recreational player and the value of the loss playing is well worth it. The games are negative so a winning year would be a great feat.My problem is my VP loss of $3015 (excluding Keno win) plus the free play loss of $6100 is $9115. With  $407,000 coin in  that's a 2.24% loss and seems steep to me if my math is correct.I do play at an Indian run casino, to me that should not matter. I played 99% plus games most of the time. Practice play on computer daily. I will say my royals come in about the norm. I think my play from nickels to $1 was the reason for a bigger loss. To say I need to stick to a denomination and not jump up when I get ahead for the year has been my down fall. One trip I might play quarters. The next 2 I would play .50. Then go an a bad streak and drop to nickels. Now I am still a recreational player but think there is a lot of room for improvement. Any pointers would be welcome since we are starting a new year! Thanks ahead of time!

This is the very reason I started tracking my wins and losses each trip. I subtract my coin out from coin in and print out says I lost $12,210.00I have no idea how they come up with that number but the last 2 years I been tracking my play its off by miles. If I lost 12k at a casino I would never step in one again!
