Re: Bonus Poker Days
We are staying at the Hollywood Hard Rock for Christmas. Our family always has a big get together in South Florida on Christmas Eve and the rooms are free. Good to see your royals are coming back. I hit a small one myself a few weeks ago. I'm still starting on Bonus Poker. Comparing all the traditional VP games is interesting. You would think you could play Jacks and Bonus longer with less money than the others. The problem is quads or lack of them. Some days you can't hit one for anything... weird. Deuces is a pretty mild game most of the time. My wife takes a phone photo of every quad deuce she gets. She's got a phone full of them by now. I wish everyone on the forum a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday. Hope you get a Royal for Christmas!

She's got a phone full of them by now. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------So do I with quads. If the day is photo free, I've probably lost $80 or more. One or two, I may actually break even. RF, that's about all I want. Preferably while playing dollar denomination. JOB has the mild reputation. But Olds loses like crazy on it, and I've been getting slammed a lot. It may finally be time to switch over.

First a big thank you to Phil for posting this once or twice in a lifetime photo. Merry Christmas and Happy and healthy Holidays to all. The Mrs. and I are just back again from an overnight at Mohegan Sun. I started out with a little Bonus Poker on quarters, but after 2 or 3 quadless hours I got bored and down at least 200 bucks. I played some Joker Kings on the same machine as below and was fortunate enough to hit a Royal in hearts playing the center line only with bet 2. I was dealt 4 and drew the Ace of Hearts. That was good for a nice hand pay of 940x2 or 1880 bucks. I switched the game to Bonus Deuces Wild on the same machine and treaded water for a couple of Hours. Hitting 5 Aces and a dealt Wild Royal kept me going. I was just about to call it a night as I had given back 400 of the above Royal. Every so often, I would up my bet from bet 1 or bet 2 on just the center line to bet 5 or once in a while bet ten. Quite unexpectedly I was dealt 4 deuces on a pot shot with bet ten. That was good for another 2,000 bucks and at that point had sense enough to get some sleep and pack it in for the bulk of the trip. One would think that with these 3 great hits a few days apart I would be ahead or at least close to even for the year. Nope. I am thrilled at the year end come back, but the long Royalless streaks during the year really took a toll on my bankroll. I will probably make one more trip up before New Years after relaxing with the family on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Slow but sure will be the rule as the end of the year approaches. Best to all for a Happy and healthy New Year....Olds..... just a final edited note to add....I started playing vp over 30 years ago and almost always played job or bonus poker. I enjoyed the game, but streaks of 5,6, or even 8 hours without any quads never mind Royals drove me crazy and try as I might, I cannot regain or maintain interest in either game anymore. For some crazy reason, I can seem to stomach losses on joker kings or deuces wild much easier. That said I hope whatever game the gang plays keeps the enjoyment going. If it ain't fun, it ain't worth playing.

Bonus Poker Days.....yes I remember those days. My favorite one to remember so others can hope for too is hitting 4 Aces 5 times in hour. That was many years ago on a quarter machine. I imagine the probability of that rivals my 600k hand Royalless streaks. I haven't done the math, but seems to me it would be nearly impossible to hit quad aces 5 times in just 600 hands. edited to fix a one letter typo.

Congrats olds, on the hit. Hopefully having a Benjamin Franklin and 39 of his identical brothers placed into your outstretched hand softened the sting a bit.

I was so convinced of this that I played dollar Jacks, which lead to my biggest one day win. Sometimes it's just amazing how long you can go between quads. On this website playing for free, I can sometimes go days without one. Pretty frustrating...I hope everyone has a great Christmas. It's eighty degrees in Florida right now. We are turning up the air conditioner to get in the spirit. Ho Ho Ho!

Two quadless hours and -$200 usually concludes my day. Fortunately, that is merely Olds' appetizer. And he truly feasted. I choked down 2.5 quadless hours yesterday en route to -$200 ($135 BR + $65 Winnings). I must play DW next year. The losing is more pleasant and the quad deuces should be fun and profitable if it hits.
