When to quit playing is a variable that you have complete control over, and the casino/ machine has no control over at all. This is a HUGE advantage to the player.
Yes, you do have complete control over that, which is a goo d thing. But you're equally likely to quit at the right time vs. the wrong time in terms of final results. But that's okay, the machine will be there to play in the future. The most important thing about quitting is to do it when it is right for you.

True, but the one thing that nags at me though is how many big wins do you sacrifice by taking the sure money? I guess you can't have it all. It's kind of like taking a job as a government employee versus being something like a high risk real estate investor.
One good aspect is that if you are able to substantially increase your bankroll with the low risk strategy you can take more risk in the future, but with the casino's money.

Well, you definitely can take bigger risks with bigger games. But increasing your bankroll from playing something like video poker is quite a bit of work. Most games are long-term in the house's favor, obviously. Even the one you are currently playing is a long-term losing machine (unless it's giving you some amazing casino comps, which I sorta doubt.)

True enough Vman, but i sort of meant you could pick and choose moments to take a bigger risk (using only the casino's money of course) but never completely abandoning the strategy that got you in that position in the first place.
Has anyone ever factored in how many percentage points being disciplined enough to quit playing is worth? I suspect, but can't prove, obviously, at the moment anyway, that it might be as much as 10%. Suddenly that JoB game might have a payout of 109.54%. It's something to think about anyway.

You NEVER play with the"casino's money". Once you've won it, it's YOURS.

That's very true, and I thought of that while I was writing the sentence, but I figured anyone who read it would be sympathetic to the spirit of what I was trying to say.
Anyway, good job calling me out on that.

Marie the only wings I like are marinated overnight and then cooked in the oven the next day at 350 degrees for an hour. Just think, this time next year maybe the Hawks will be defeating the red Wings in the Stanley Cup finals.

HAH! GO WINGS! (wearesomessingupJeff'stopic! I have to go back to MGM Detroit Thurs to use the $100 "Free Play" I won in their Sun mailed offer. They 'forgot' to mention that fact in that offer, that included gift. Proved to be plastic MGM lidded tumbler. I was counting on playing free play on Sun. Greedy casino!
