Re: Blasted my host (in the nicest kind of way)
So, question to you and everyone else here: Do you tip your host? If so, what do you give them and do you gift them every trip or only on special occasions (holiday)?
No, I do not tip any hosts. I have, however, brought as my guest my MGM host in Vegas to play golf at Cascata, the CET course. Since I can bring a guest, I do not consider that a tip, since it didn't cost me anything. He always appreciates it.
I would do the same for my Vegas CET host playing Shadow Creek, the MGM course, but he doesn't play golf.

I didn't really read through this thread...BUT...
Rover, it sounds like you're dealing with a Nigerian Scammer! LOL
In all seriousness...90% of the hosts I've ever seen/met, English is definitely NOT their first language and they really never bother to email it correctly.
and I'm sorry to say...if you ask for $800 FSP, I DOUBT they'll just GIVE it to you...

I never tipped a host until I lucked out with my current host. Going on three years now with our host, and I now tip every visit with a gift card upfront. (visits being a few times a year).
I've heard/read somewhere that hosts are not allowed to accept cash, so hence the gift cards.
I second that and I also make regular visits to the concierge desk and hotel check in people. Bringing them little treats and asking for nothing in return also goes a long way to making your stay easier and more relaxing and sometimes you will get surprised with a few little things that you didn't even ask for. The wife and I dropped off a couple of little things at the concierge desk, on the way upstairs to drop off our things the other day, and when we came back down a few minutes later, there was an envelope waiting for us with 4 buffet vouchers worth 100- in total. That saved us 50 points for this trip and the other two we will use on a subsequent trip in the near future. Now if only my plate would look more like my wife's plate loaded with fruit, salad, vegetables, and a nice piece of cod or a chicken breast, I would be much better off. I am working on it though.
You raise an interesting point. Recognizing staff at your favorite places is always appreciated by them.
The concierge staff, hotel desk people, etc. seem to like little treats like cookies, candy, fruit etc. the best so that is what I bring them. I just use my points in the Farmer's Almanac store. Mohegan Sun does not have assigned level 3 hosts anymore, but once in awhile, I would get my prior host a nice piece of costume jewelry ( I knew the style she liked). The casinos are getting away from individual attention except for the very highest level players and are relying more and more on their web sites for player offers.

TED,
Let me help out your question to Daburglar. wtf means "what the "f...k"
Do you live under a rock? Oh wait, no you spend all your time trying to always up one
on Daburglar and look like a complete moron. I usually am just a lurker and like to read the excellent posts by most of the people here inlcuding Daburglar. But your last comments as D. pointed out just really showed what an ass...le you are. I just couldnt sit quiet. Now try this acronym stfu. See if you can figure it out....BTW Daburglar, I am a frequent VP player in AC and agree with your observations. Thanks for the support and funny post, although I actually am sorry you too are experiencing the same results I have in AC. I've cut way back and will be all but eliminating my video poker play in AC over this summer....I've gotten back into playing live Poker full blast and actually can earn free rooms (or dirt cheap anyway) by logging the appropriate number of hours at cash tables. It's actually not that difficult, usually 6 hours a day will get a free room sunday thru Thursday, and at Borgata you can get Fridays for around 100 bucks per night....forget Saturdays though, but this is no biggie, since most Saturdays if I am in AC I will spend playing all night at the Midnite Madness Tournaments at Ballys and Borgata! ALso, cash games on Saturday nights (from 1am to 5am) are GREAT times to pick up huge pots since so many DRUNK weekend party goers who failed to meet a lady friend on the club floors stumble into the poker rooms and blow 400-500 bucks on crazy hands!

My most recent visit to Harrah's AC after all that has happened recently led me to a room that had not yet been made up by housekeeping. Pretty well trashed, food, bed unmade, bathroom etc. Once again a call to my host. This time I could tell he was not happy that the hotel operation kept screwing up. This time the hotel director came to the room with new keys for the 45th floor suites and apologies all around. This was the same guy that was telling me that my experiences are not in line with the services that the hotel provides. He was pretty embarrased and kept apologizing and insisted on carrying my luggage as they led me upstairs. None of which I wanted. He also admitted that he was new and brought in to fix a number of problems they were having. I keep repeating that I don't want all of this drama, that I come to Harrah's to relax and they keep finding new and intresting ways to screw things up. He told me that this most recent problem is basically not possible in their system. There are 3 levels of checks on a room before it is released into inventory. This time around all 3 failed. Now they want me to contact them directly for my stays so they can escort me to my room. I told them that I was not intersted in doing more work just to stay at Harrah's and that I would find other places to play in the future. Later that night when we were having dinner I called my host to Join us. We had one of those "good" experiences and enjoyed his company. Of course he provided a decent level of free-play and picked up the dinner. I again took the position of not asking for anything just reiterating that I come there to relax and get away from the drama. It truly think their cost cutting measures are leading them to a point where they are unable to provide decent service to their higher end customers. After all, I really never ask for a thing, just show up, check in and "try" to go to my room. They can't get that right more than 50% of the time now. My host was disturbed to hear that I visit "other" properties in AC, but this is a reality that they are just going to have to get used to until they can provide service on par with my players club level.

I am booked at Harrah's AC in October for one night before and one night after the 7Star cruise out of NYC. I would usually stay at Caesars AC , but they are providing transportation to and from the port in NYC only from Harrah's, so it will be easier.
Should I be worried about my room being ready when I arrive?
So, really, your Harrah's host disliked you playing elsewhere? Does the host realize that gaming is a competitive environment? If he is smart, he will work every day to make your Harrah's experience better than you would find at any other property in AC. Otherwise, he is not doing his job.

I have to say that I have never had any issues related to my rooms and overnights at Mohegan Sun. Their concierge staff and hotel people are top notch in my opinion. This would hold for over 300 stays I have had there in the last few years. Wish I could say the same for my gaming results. . If anyone is headed this way, I can give the staff there a heads up to make sure everything is just so when yu arrive.

Your not going to have a problem. I've got a special * somewhere in my account that says "make this guy so crazy that he goes running into the street". It's just me.
