Centralized Command Work Station = "Ignore the man behind the curtain."
Paco- I've found many times on multi-game machines certain games available only in certain denominations.
gregorio - Welcome back, you've been missed.

Tedlark,
It was that it had been changed from 1 to another denom in a few minute's time w/o me seeing anyone physically adjusting the machine that caught my attention. Like I said though, I could be mistaken. It could have been dollar all along and I just didn't register it in my mind but why would the rest of the machines with identical games in the the same bank offer 25 cent denom? This machine was in the center of the bank and was the only one sitting idle for a few minutes.

I could see a casino might raise the denomination of a machine at a busy time, and lower it at slower times.
That's no different than changing a blackjack tables minimum during peak times and lowering them overnight.
Changing the denomination of a vp machine doesn't change the paybacks.
Anyone who thinks that other people winning or losing somehow effects their chances shouldn't be playing.

If you're playing in a bank of machines with a shared progressive NRF jackpot and someone hits the NRF, it can indeed effect the other players' chances - changing a +EV game to a -EV game in an instant (a big intragame EV change recently happened to me at Casino Fandango when the lady to the left of me hit the $300 and change NRF progressive on a nickel 5 coin max machine). Anyway Bill, you are probably referring to non-progressive machines in your statement (defunct games like flush attack which were also linked caused results of one player to effect the EV of others IIRC). Anyone who thinks that other people winning or losing somehow effects their chances shouldn't be playing.

I hadn't thought progressives. You are correct on those but that's not what gregerio was talking about.
He was saying the casinos will lower payouts if they are experiencing lower than expected profits.
He was saying the casinos will lower payouts if they are experiencing lower than expected profits.
I am sure with some certainty that no one has witnessed VP pay tables change while they played the game unless it was a progressive of some kind. There is no doubt that pay tables change, but they are usually done in mass or at least on a bank of machines. What I have seen are machines that switch games if they sit idle for a period of time. We've both been caught up in this from time to time. Once my wife thought she was playing Jacks when the machine had switched to DDB. She hit four 4s with a kicker and couldn't understand why the bell kept ringing. That was a nice surprise ...

Billy.
I know it didn't change the pat back ( well maybe it did 'cause most times dollar denom usually has a better pay schedule) I was only citing a possible example of the casino's ability to make changes remotely to games at there will. I think your other statement was directed to someone else. I don't believe other peoples play affects my chances except on class 2 machines or progressives.
So why is it so stupid????It's not stupid, it's illogical. There is no "up side" for a casino to rig a VP machine and plenty of "downside". The vast majority of these games are negative, so the house already has a built in profit. Add the fact that 99.99% of humans make errors (taking into consideration those that think they don't), plus those that don't know, can't or won't play with computer perfect strategy and you have at least a 10% house edge. Creating software that could turn VP jackpots on and off would be an expensive and formidable task. It's not worth the investment it when all they have to do is put the games on the floor and players will play anything with a jackpot no matter how rare.If you honestly believed VP machines are rigged, would you play them? I surely wouldn't...
Hi Phil. I've been playing VP for many years and, contrary to what Billy suggested, I am no fool. So unless my Video Poker IQ goes down the more I play, I am truly convinced the game is not fair any longer. You can't possibly think it remained the same in the last 10 years or so. I know it's hard to continue playing a game if in the back of your mind you suspect rigged, therefore some hardcore ( perhaps addicted) players reject the notion. But ask yourself why so many people lately are beating this "rigged" drum ?? Why?? If you can give me a reasonable explanation, I'd really appreciate it!

Do you play in AC?
If so, next time you are stumbling out of the Irish Pub, take a gander across the street. It's the big building taking up the block.Oh, you talking about Revel? That big building taking up the block. Is that where the Casino Control Board was located . I was too foolish to know. No wonder they went bankrupt!
