Is that payback % adjustable.... I think so.

Discuss proper hold strategies and "advantage play" and ask questions about how to improve your play.

{spx,
     Either your calculations are way off or you're the luckiest player on earth. To have $200k in W2's with only $750k in play would be like hitting a royal every few hours.}

Good point! Without going to the trouble of checking my records playing $2 DDB at max play it was more like $100K in W2's for over $1 million worth of play.

{That was the American Coin fiasco where the programmer, Larry Volk, was eventually killed by a hitman. It happened around 20 years ago and led to some of the security measures that are now in place. Here's some info from vpfree:

Here's some other relevant info:

Good reading, thanks Shadowman. Any idea why Larry Volk would have programmed a machine like that? I remember seeing a show about this a while back but they never mentioned why he did it or who told him to do it. I wouldn't think Larry Volk would do it all on his own.

These machines were located mainly in bars. The payouts came out of the bar owners take. They didn't want to have to pay out RFs and ergo, they were removed. This is an over simplication of everyone involved but in essense that is why it was done.
The American Coin routes were like the vending machine routes today.

Larry Volk was set to testify against the owners of American Coin until his untimely death. Without his testimony the owners got off with only fines and loss of the business (instead of significant prison time).

It does demonstrate a reason why the big companies today would be foolish to mess with their machines and put their business at risk.

I was reading over the americancasinoguide you provided and it made me wonder why the casinos don't advertise this type of info. I've heard people say some crazy things in the past because this type of information is not common knowledge. But at the same time I realize that the casinos are doing just fine without it.

I think the casino are perfectly happy with all the myths. It gives gamblers a  way to justify their losses.

[QUOTE=spxChrome,  In this case to get a good look at a steak I'd rather stick my head up a bulls rear than to take the butchers word for it.       Great line,  but to recap for my own sanity on this issue :  1.  Trust is the basis of civilization including the gaming industry  2.  For me,  Webman , Shadowman,  Mike A.,  Eduardo, Faygo, Ginxxx,  even newcomer Delora Deuces and a host of others have proven themselves entirely trustworthy on VP issues for which I thank them. 3.  I trust  in the probability math  4.  I play for fun then profit and for me it's unconscionable to play slots or any game with  less than a reasonable risk 5.  Faulty personal  risk of ruin calculations in life are often the root cause of felonious activity {that crooks, when they  consider their actions at all, whether they be the president of Enron or an employee of your favorite casino consistently bet against the odds of getting caught and eventually lose.} 6. It's good to trust and it's great when that trust is earned by verification. See #2.    Anyway this has been a lively thread.   Now, for me,  back to the business of how to win more, have more fun and to commiserate about poor luck.   Great luck to each of you.

Another great line, faygo.   After its arrival I will donate it to your favorite charity.   Another great thing about this site is the bright humor from all the vp afficionados like, faygo, edc, oej , Marie etc.  Have a great day.

Steve , you saved me. I forgot the old axiom that "charity begins at home". I managed  to run down the mailman and get the check back and have donated it to Tangueray.
