Barb,

Well, working at a casino has definitely made me spend a lot more time in the casinos than I normally would, that's for sure.  For some people, it works just the opposite.  They can't wait to go home after spending all that time in the casino all day.  It also helps that Showboat has that convenient walkway to Taj.  Sometimes though, especially if I did some overtime, I'm just too tired to go over there to gamble.  If I get sent home early when it's slow, I'm ALWAYS over at Taj afterwards.. LOL

I ended my streak of not going today, and I ended up doing half-way decent.  I played a little STP, hit nothing major, but ended up about $150 ahead after 30 minutes.  Then I noticed the DDB 25-cent progressive adjacent to those STP's was up to $1412!  The aces w/ a kicker was up to $582 as well.  I had to try it out.  Got dealt 4 to a royal twice in about an hour, drew to 4 to a royal about 5 or 6 times when I was dealt 3 to it, but never snagged it..   I hit quad deuces for $100, and also quad jacks, but all in all, I did pretty bad on those DDB's trying for the royal and lost almost all my profit from STP.  I did play for 2 hours though.. I ended up ahead $15, then picked up my cashback of $76.. so all in all, not too bad!

I actually have some news on the job-front, too.  I got an offer to deal poker over at Caesar's, which would pretty much be double what I make now.  It's kind of a hard decision to make though, as I love where I work at Showboat, the management is great, the customers are great (and I'm getting to know quite a few of them rather well), and my co-workers are great.  I'm trying to do a pro-con list of what I should do..  it would definitely cut back my play at Taj! LOL

Barb,

One more thing, did you hear that there will be a new game in casinos in the near future (possibly by the end of this year or beginning of next year?)  One of my buddies is a slots manager and I'm always asking him of what games are coming in the near future.  I got on the topic of how much I liked STP, and he told me that the next type of game that they are expecting is... this is VERY good...

Multistrike Super Times Pay!!!  It will come out in 1 line only first, but then they will get it in the multi-hand version.  Can you imagine the possible hits on that machine, especially on the top line???  Oh the addiction, I can see it now.. LOLOLOLOL

OHHHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I like the Multistrike a lot,I did well on it once but after that not so good. Ive been practising it here cause sometimes Im stuck playing it till an STP opens up. I also downloaded the Multistrike trainer but it doesnt have Deuces Wild which is what I like to play so I play it without the trainer. I will keep my eyes open for it. Ohworking at Ceasars will certainly curtail your trips to the Taj! Good luck whatever you decide!

Barb,

I like the multistrike too, but I like it in the 5-hand format a LOT better than the single hand.  I tend to last a lot longer on 5 hands versus 1.  I usually play nickel 5-hand at max bet when I do play it.  It does get rather expensive when you have a lot of crappy hands, but I've had some pretty decent hits on them.  I still can't wait for that STP Multistrike.. LOL

The one disadvantage of working at Caesar's (other than less Taj trips.. LOL) is that they don't have an employee parking garage (at least that's what I have been told..)  They park in the big casino parking lot on the AC Expressway as you're coming into Atlantic City (right after the last 50-cent toll.)  Yuck!!  What's worse is that I live right off the White Horse Pike (Route 30, the road that takes you right into AC and ends at Showboat) so that would be out of my way.  I guess I'd have to find somewhere to park.  I'm thinking of playing a bit more at Bally's to get to Platinum status (I think I have 1200 or so points with Total Rewards..) so I can get free parking the rest of the year.. park there and walk to Caesar's.. LOL

I just got back from a spur of the moment trip to the Taj. It was one of those "well if we get a room.." So I called my host and she was on vacation and she left the name of another host. I really didnt think I would get a room but he said no problem! So off we went. Got there late (for us!) around 330 and no smoking rooms were ready so we took a nonsmoking room. (it seems like the smoking rooms are very hard to get) and off we went to play STP! We did great the first 3 or so hours playing on our cashback and around 100 of our stake and then-freefall! I cant even begin to tell you how bad it got. Couldnt catch a 4OAK and the DW games were horrible! How could you throw away a hand with no deuces and get 5 more with no deuces and no winners? Again and again! I did see a woman get dealt 4 deuces with a kicker on 5 play with the 8 multiplier! I think I got all weekend four 3's with the kicker and that was it for the big 4OAK's (aces,2's,3's,4's) thank goodness my husband got a royal (we gave it all back arggggggg) and he got Aces a few times, once with the kicker. Sunday we did better in that we left with the same amunt we started the day with. So Sunday we were even but Saturday-dont remind me. This woman we see there all the time and play next too admitted to losing (her and her husband who plays blackjack) 7000 and then she and her husband got a marker! Shes crazy though (but such fun!)-she plays .50 and 10 lines and with the speed on turbo!! LOL! SO now we need to re-access our plans to go next week-doubtful! since we are going 2 days Pres weekend. Hey the new job sounds very inconvenient-unless the raise in pay is worth it! Good luck!

Barb,

Were you there on the STP machines on Sunday at around 4:30PM?  If so, I walked by there.. LOL  I decided to go before work to play for a little bit since I was early, but all the STP machines were taken  so I ended up losing and losing and losing on the DDB Progressive.  I eventually did hit four 4's with an ace to win back most of my money, but I still left behind about $100.

What denom machine was it that the lady hit the 4 deuces w/ kicker?  That's a really nice hit!  $8000 on quarters, $16000 on halves.. wow!  I could use a hit like that!

That woman that you play next to certainly must have a decent bankroll to be playing like she does.  I get ansy just playing 25-cent 10-play on the slowest speed possible.. LOL

As for the job, the pay would be double what I make now, and like I said, other than no Taj trips after work (not important) and the parking situation, there's no real downfall to it.  My fiance and I talked about it, and I'm gonna do it, but it won't be till spring.

By the way, sorry to hear that your trip wasn't successful.  Hopefully the trip on Pres. weekend will make up for it!

I left the Taj Sunday around 3pm so we missed each other LOL My husband doesnt like the long drive (2hrs no traffic) in the dark, so winter trips end by 3 the latest. I know that woman I told you about flies in from LI and I also know shes in he Maharajah club. But because you spend that much doesnt mean you can afford it! They seem like down to earth regular folks altho she has a gorgeous diamond ring thats got to be around 5 carats. So maybe they can afford it! We have a great time with her as we all root each other on when we get the multiplier! Ive seen her get Royals on .50 games and still need to get more money. When we lose 500 each my stomach hurts even tho I know it wont affect my ability to pay my other bills. Twice the pay! You have to take the job!

Barb,

Can't blame your hubby for not wanting to drive in the dark in this area, especially this time of year when we've had quite a bit of black ice on the overpasses.  I'm the same way when I lose $500.. I feel ill! LOL  It's good the way you spend though, because I have seen so many people spend more than they can afford to, missing rent payments, bills, etc.. I remember when I worked in Valet last year I had a guy who I drove his Mercedes up to him.  He was sobbing when I got the car up to him.  I asked him what was wrong and he said that his wife had just left him (she took a bus home I guess..) She was a housewife, he was a doctor.  He said they stayed at Showboat for 5 days and took a certain amount (which he didn't disclose) with them to spend for those 5 days.  He ended up getting marker after marker and ended up losing over $500,000!! Oh my........... said he barely had enough money left for tolls and gas for the ride home... pretty sad, actually!
And yes, I really do need to take that job at Caesar's.  Twice the pay definitely makes up for all the other things I mentioned.  They have the same size of poker room as Showboat, but they run higher limits at Caesar's and have much different clientelle (hardcore poker pokers galore!)  They also don't run as many tournaments as we do at Showboat, so the dealers get to deal more cash games at Caesar's than we do..

Mike,
HOLY MOLY $500,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have more restraint than that! And we dont have much! LOL Cant even imagine what he was playing and betting. Probably kept raising his bet to make up for his losses which never works. I usually go down in denomination when losing to conserve what I have left. Sounds like the new job is a good deal (no pun intended) for you. I just started a new job and the worst part is meeting all the new people. Hey we are heading back to the Taj Sat till Sunday this weekend, we have to be good cause the next weekend we are there 2 days and that can be a killer!

Hey Mike my brother went down to Caesars(formerly my favorite AC casino)to play some poker yesterday and told me he liked the poker room there and will be returning soon.  He said the people working there were very cool and he felt very comfortable.  Didn't do so well money-wise but had a good time anyway. This is coming from a former Vegas resident who has seen a poker room or two over the years.
