when i was younger, that was a longggg time ago, i remember driving down the roads, and there was garbage all over the place. it was common to see folks pull up to a stop sign/light and throw their garbage out the window. almost never see that now, most folks are quite concerned about cleaning up the planet, recycling, etc. Like so many other problems (equality, racism) we have, let's not forget all the improvements that have been made.  you can blame my generation for a lot, but, i would hardly hold up the 35 and younger crowd as an example. not all, but some of them are among the most spoiled, self indulgent folks i have ever seen. they have been given plenty, many have never worked a day in their lives until leaving college (which was an extended party, on debt), still live at home w/mom and dad and need a computer app, to figure how to cross the street.

http://response.restoration.noaa.gov/ab ... -myth.html

I'm more concerned about my neighbors hooking up a garden hose and a bottle of weed killer to an unprotected outside faucet. Or folks flushing their old medications down the toilet where it eventually pollutes our ground water. Or some ass clown wanting to deny me my 2nd Amendment rights to protect my family and friends. Or limousine liberals who think nothing of laying down a carbon footprint bigger than your "CONTINENT of GARBAGE" and expecting the working folks to pay for it through higher taxes. Lastly, I'm concerned a whole bunch about what's not being done to eradicate ISIS.
With my limited education, that's about all I can COMPREHEND, before my brain explodes. Sorry.

That article clearly states that the impact on the environment is "UNKNOWN" from "all that microplastic floating around".....you want to argue that this is a good thing?  Or that we should NOT try to limit future garbage reaching the ocean and its all-important ecosystem? But forget that for a moment since you mentioned something else.....You want our government to eradicate Isis huh?   well gee, I would have to agree with that since they are clearly really nasty people, but where do we stop with this type of intervention?Do you have any idea at all about what has been going on in the world in places like Africa and Asia the past 25 years?  The heinous events in the middle east are no worse than what has transpired in places like Liberia, Angola, and countless other places....do you want to go bomb the crap out the villains there too?  I am serious, google Liberia's Civil War and a guy by the name of Charles Taylor, just to start with......sure, he was eventually tried for war crimes but not before doing a whole lot of evil.....Why is it the USA's sole responsibility?   Why is not other "powers" in this world bearing more burden to pursue and punish criminal groups like ISIS (?)  See, this has nothing to do with me being learned, it has everything to do with you being ignorant and unable to THINK THINGS THROUGH.......so you wipe out ISIS, then what?  who takes its place?   You obviously have no grasp of history....The truly sad thing here is this:  Morally, the RIGHT THING to do is go after ISIS, just as it was IMMORAL what we did to IRAQ in 2003 and after......that is the problem.  We shot our wad so to speak "breaking" Iraq and look what has replaced it.......I am no fan of this current president, but his reluctance to get involved ONCE AGAIN in a vague ground conflict in that part of the world when the threat IS NOT NEARLY as GRAVE to US INTERESTS as the sensationalized stories in the media portray...it just is not.The people being killed there (the hostages from various countries) are, sadly, in that part of the world to begin with by their own choice....as Tedlark would point out, THEY ARE responsible for themselves and KNOW the risks they take by working in that part of the world.Plus, has it NOT occurred to anyone that the whole point of ISIS doing what it is doing, with the HORRIBLE videos of executions, is to provoke this EXACT type of reaction and get the USA to ONCE again expend lives, blood and treasure in another pointless, endless conflict????   You really cannot see that huh?I think eventually the WORLD, with the USA a large contributor but NOT the sole or even primary, will do away with ISIS, either that or some other evil MORE BRUTAL group will replace ISIS or kill them and take their place.   RUSSIA is a far far far greater. more serious and threatening problem, and maybe, just maybe our "learned" ones in the government foreign relations arena know this and are avoiding becoming bogged down and distracted once again by nut jobs in the desert.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder Narcissistic personality disorder is one of several types of personality disorders. Personality disorders are conditions in which people have traits that cause them to feel and behave in socially distressing ways, limiting their ability to function in relationships and other areas of their life, such as work or school. If you have narcissistic personality disorder, you may come across as conceited, boastful or pretentious. You often monopolize conversations. You may belittle or look down on people you perceive as inferior. You may feel a sense of entitlement — and when you don't receive special treatment, you may become impatient or angry. You may insist on having "the best" of everything — for instance, the best car, athletic club or medical care.At the same time, you have trouble handling anything that may be perceived as criticism. You may have secret feelings of insecurity, shame, vulnerability and humiliation. To feel better, you may react with rage or contempt and try to belittle the other person to make yourself appear superior. Or you may feel depressed and moody because you fall short of perfection.  Gee, kinda sounds like DaBurglar to me.

you have to wonder about someone who disputes that no one is dying in america from hunger, is proven wrong, but cannot admit it.  you gotta question when someone points out all the evil polution that went on in the past, but will acknowledge that a huge effort has been made to correct those wrongs.  and, why would someone feel the need to only point out the bad things about america, when that same country has been a shining light since it creation. no matter the errors that have been made, people are begging to come her, we give more to help others than any other nation on earth, we have saved europe/world not once but twice and countless acts that go on forever. we may not like it, but the world needs leadership and we are it. unfortunately, evil will always exist, we eliminate one and move on to the next.

Well Debungler, where you see trash, I see someone turning it into treasure. Dredging for plastic perhaps. Land based recyclers seem to be making a go of it. But as fragile as that ecosystem is, I'm more concerned about those Islamic Terrorists who want to rule the world and feed us "infidels" to the fishes.

I don't need to Google Liberia, and Charles Taylor. I could list hundreds of these despots from dozens of countries from almost the beginning of time who are as bad as or worse than him.

Face it, there is EVIL in the world, and it's growing stronger every day that the Worlds only Superpower sits back and does next to nothing to stop it.

You said that ISIS is committing these horrible atrocities to provoke us into another pointless, endless conflict. Hardly, they don't care what we think, because they see our leadership as weak, and impotent. Can't blame them for that. Our so called allies are saying the same thing. They are killing innocent people because the Koran is telling them to and they like it.

You asked why we Americans should have to carry the burden of protecting the weak. The answer is because we can, and should.

Take your situation. Despite your education, and based on what you've shared here, you are unable and probably unwilling to physically defend yourself. Were you to be dumped out of your wheel chair and beaten to a bloody pulp by your neighborhood bully, would you be crying for help and praying that a bigger, and badder person would step up and save you? Or would you resort to name calling as you continually resort to here?

There are Warriors among us who have stepped up, and will continue to step up when the weak such as yourself need protecting. Hopefully, unlike Leon Klinghoffer, someone will step up and protect you if you're in that position.
