Re: Tax on Winnings?
It certainly eliminates any doubt or concern anyone would have had with a $1600 ticket.
Anyone else see that happen before?
Yes. At the casinos I play at here in CO, any winner that puts you over $1200 in credits kicks out a ticket. That's on the single line multi-denom machines. I think that's something that's set by the casino and not something that's sort of hard-coded into all machines everywhere. But I'm not sure of that.

I believe you're right, cd. I play on a 3-play here in LV were you can accumulate thousands of credits before cashing out a ticket.

The key is what you win in a single hand. If you hit a Royal on 5 25 ct for 1k and then four dueces for 250 and cash 1200 no tax and no form. If you hit 5 Aces on a 10 2dollar bet its over 1200 for that hand and the machine freezes and you need a tax form.

Scorpio - may be right, I have quite a few friends that play and I'll see if they know. It would be the first I've heard of taxing chips on a table game.
Regarding the auto out ticket, just had the same happen again Saturday. Up to $600 hit 4 Aces for $800 and it went to $1400, no ticket out. This was at Ameristar, may be casino specific. I do appreciate all your help here. Had I not known, I might have made sure to play it down to $1199!
Harrah's did a spit-out of tickets on me once...but the machine malfunctioned, was up to $400 then it dealt me the same full house 9 hands in row and each time it spit out a $35 ticket...I don't care if it pays 7-1 on a FH if it's automatic. Just wish I'd have got more than 9 hands before they came over and shut down the machine...by the 3rd time, we were talking about it. Never saw that before or since. Point is, Harrah's spit out tickets and President spit out tickets but Ameristar didn't.
Cheers and my you all hit 2 RF's every trip

7come11 - That machine malfunction was fascinating!! Never seen anything like that, but I had another VP player tell me he was once dealt two deuces of clubs on the same hand. This was witnessed by two other reliable people and I have good reason to believe it to be true.
Machine malfunctions can give us players unique and interesting insights into the inner workings of a VP machine that may be considered "proprietary information" unless you can buy one yourself, of course.
How did Harrah's catch that error so quickly? I'd have been sorely tempted to try to keep as quiet and calm as possible knowing that it would have taken a LOT of $35 full houses to damage a company valued at $15 billion.
Machine malfunctions would make for an interesting thread topic.

I've got one and when I brought it to thier attention I was told it was impossible and I must have made a mistake.
I discarded a six of clubs and got it back on the draw. How do I know it? Because I was going for a straight flush and I was dealt (9spade,8spade,6club,6spade,7spade) the 6club came right back on the draw I actually thought I missed the draw button or it malfunctioned.

Did they go back into the history and show look? Even very old machines have a history of several hands. Of course, if you didn't bring it to their attention immediately they would not be able to check it out. If you did, then I would be suspicious.

I think the current "standard" is a 20 or 30 hand history. Don't know what that would be for older machines. The machines are required to do a self-check after every hand, which surprised me when I found that out. They do operate under tough conditions, being up and running 24/7.
I'm wondering if in the case of the 9 consecutive and identical FH if the machine didn't call for help after, say, the third one. A warning came up in the office and they sent someone over while the poster was still playing. But you'd think if the software was smart enough to do something like that, then the machine would just stop play itself. ??? Or - maybe the master computer saw that a $35 ticket was being kicked out after every hand. (Laughing) I'm sure THAT would get their attention!
